Role
Who you are
- Bilingual in Japanese (Native) and English (Professional Proficient)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles with 2+ years managing a team
Desirable
- CPA, MBA, or CFA
- Experience within a start-up, high-growth company, or similar dynamic environment
What the job involves
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and monthly departmental reporting
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and expense allocations
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities
- Partner on annual audits by preparing documentation and coordinating with auditors
- Develop & Implement internal controls and creation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the department
- Manage month-end closing processes, including entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Manage fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules
- Perform financial planning and analysis (focus related to procurement)
- Perform cost analysis for effective purchasing decisions
- Manage a small team of Accounting & financial team members both PT and contractors between the US & Japan
- Lead projects aimed at generating value and driving cost savings
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects to implement process improvements
- Support long-term financial and operational goals

Aptly named Oishii (delicious in Japanese) is a vertical fruit farming company that aims to replicate the most flavourful fruits found from extensive research in Japan. Vertical farming is a growing billion dollar industry and though the electricity bills for this form of farming may be high, the argument for the high flavour and nutrient dense food all year round is one that Oishii most definitely feeds into.
Originating as the first global entity to cultivate fruit at commercial scale in an indoor vertical farm, Oishii commenced its journey with strawberries, notably featured at the esteemed three-star Michelin restaurant, Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare. Since founding, the US based company has expanded to sell in high-end grocery stores like Whole Foods, where its renowned strawberries and sweet cherry tomatoes are now coveted.
The company recently required an impressively large round of funding for a company of its size, an ode to the promise Oishii shows for the future of premium fruit cultivation. With this funding the company is able to envision an automated future, incorporating robots and AI into every facet of farming - most definitely an exciting company to keep an eye on.
