Who you are
- This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of raw data engineering, thoughtful data modeling, and user-centric visualization in BI tools
- We’re looking for someone who brings a strong sense of ownership over data workflows and proactively identifies opportunities to improve data quality, engineering processes, and reporting infrastructure
- Expert in Looker, including LookML development, data exploration, and dashboard optimization
- Strong SQL skills, with experience developing in dbt or equivalent transformation tools
- Familiar with data ingestion and orchestration tools such as Fivetran, Airflow, or similar
- Ability to debug data issues across pipeline layers (source → staging → model → dashboard)
- Ownership mentality with demonstrated ability to improve data systems without being prompted
- Excellent documentation and stakeholder communication practices
- 4–6 years of experience in data analytics, BI development, or data engineering in a fast-paced environment
- Experience supporting multiple stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Product, or Operations
- Prior experience working with data from tools like Shopify, Salesforce, Klaviyo, Netsuite, and Rudderstack is a plus
- Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and takes initiative to improve underlying systems and data access
- Exposure to event tracking and customer journey analysis (e.g., using Rudderstack or similar CDPs)
- Experience with cross-system data reconciliation (e.g., reconciling sales data across Shopify, Salesforce, Netsuite, …)
- Familiarity with email and paid media platforms (e.g., Klaviyo, Meta, Google Ads)
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Analyst join our Data & Analytics team, with a focus on end-to-end reporting workflows and BI tools
- You will be responsible for extracting data from a variety of sources, transforming it into analytical models via tools like dbt, and building impactful dashboards and reports in Looker
- This role supports multiple teams — including Product, Operations, and Revenue — and will play a key part in democratizing data through robust pipelines and intuitive visualizations
- You won’t just build what’s asked — you’ll ask what’s missing and lead the charge to fill the gaps
- Own and maintain end-to-end data workflows, from extraction to modeling to dashboard delivery
- Lead efforts in building robust, self-serve data experiences in Looker as a platform expert, including LookML development and dashboard design
- Work across data ingestion tools (primarily Fivetran) to pull raw data into our warehouse
- Build and manage data models in dbt, ensuring clean and reliable layers for reporting and analysis
- Proactively identify engineering and data integrity issues, propose solutions, and lead fixes — not just as a builder, but as a steward of high-quality data systems
- Support reporting continuity across systems migrations (e.g., WooCommerce → Shopify) and multi-source reconciliation (Salesforce, Netsuite, etc.)
- You’ll own critical reporting infrastructure at the heart of our business
- You’ll empower business teams to act confidently and quickly using high-quality data
- You’ll be a trusted expert in BI tooling and a key contributor to scalable data systems in a collaborative, data-empowered culture
Our take
Tonal has created a proprietary digital weight system and combined this with coaching to offer a personalized and smart home gym. Its wall-mounted system uses electromagnetism to control the weights, replacing bulky and hard-to-store weightlifting equipment with a slim and sleek machine.
As well as selling the machines, Tonal sells subscriptions to personal training sessions and workout routines. The fitness landscape is shifting toward at-home equipment other similar equipment is supplied by Peloton and Mirror.
Tonal has seen impressive growth, investing equity funding into content initiatives, high-profile partnerships, scaling operations, and strong celebrity endorsements. It remains to be seen, however, if the current trend of home-workout equipment will stick around, let alone gain new momentum, but Tonal's cleverly designed equipment gives it an edge over competitors.
