Who you are
- Solid experience recruiting for tech and engineering roles, ideally within games, software, or creative industries
- A mix of in-house and agency experience is highly valued; you know how to manage volume while maintaining quality
- Proven success utilising advanced sourcing platforms, tools, and diverse outreach methods
- Confidence in utilising, improving, and owning recruitment operations (ATS workflows, documentation, metrics)
- Ability to work effectively across time zones to support international hiring needs

- We’re looking for a passionate and intuitive Technical Recruiter to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract
- This role goes beyond simply filling vacancies - it’s about scaling our EU-based teams to directly drive delivery of Squadron 42 and other major projects
- You will play a key part in building sustainable talent pipelines, identifying exceptional technical talent, and ensuring every candidate has a world-class experience from first contact to final offer
- You’ll work closely with hiring managers across our European studios and collaborate with the wider Talent Acquisition team during a major recruitment push to meet the demands of an exciting development roadmap
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for tech and engineering roles across CIG’s European studios
- Build and execute innovative sourcing strategies to engage top-tier candidates proactively, including for niche and hard-to-fill roles
- Partner closely with hiring managers to deeply understand team needs and translate them into effective hiring plans
- Drive direct sourcing and headhunting initiatives to consistently improve and diversify candidate pipelines
- Deliver a seamless, memorable, and high-touch candidate experience from initial outreach through to onboarding
- Maintain accurate recruitment data and ATS workflows, providing regular reporting on pipeline health
- Act as a strategic partner – not just a service – offering market insights and guidance to help hiring managers succeed
Our take
Cloud Imperium Games is an independent game company that specializes in immersive storytelling. It is currently developing a highly anticipated PC space simulation game, Star Citizen, initially funded by a crowdfunding campaign, as well as Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player sidekick to Star Citizen staring the likes of Mark Hamill and Gillian Anderson.
Originally announced in 2012 and 2014, neither title has received an official release date. The appeal for backers, who have contributed over $500 million to the crowdfunding campaign, is that the games exist outside the norms of modern game development, and that the company seems to have stuck to its initial plans and trajectory rather than adapting towards an earlier release.
The company announced plans to increase operations and headcount across the years from 2022 to 2027, which could suggest a release date at the end of this 5-year plan. The fans remain engaged for now, but the company runs the risk of frustrating and alienating their donators and target audience the longer they have to wait. And bad press surrounding management at the company is unlikely to help.
