Who you are
- We're looking for a Competitive Intelligence Analyst for an internship who is eager to learn and work on various subjects in a fast moving organization, possessing the following attributes:
- You are currently studying for your final year of a Masters Degree (Bac+5) in Business, Economics, Marketing, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and are looking for a 6-month end of studies internship / "stage de fin d'études" starting from February to July 2025
- At the end of the internship, we want to hire the person for a permanent contract
- At least 3 months of hands-on experience in strategy consulting, competitive intelligence, market research, or a related field. Experience in AI, technology, or insurance space is highly desirable
- Expertise in conducting comprehensive primary and secondary research
- Strong skills in both quantitative and qualitative analysis (e.g., benchmarking)
- Proven ability to synthesize and transform large volumes of technical and non-technical information into structured, actionable insights
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey insights to diverse audiences, including both technical and non-technical stakeholders, through various formats (written, verbal, and visual)
- Experience or a keen interest in insurance pricing and reserving, especially on the application of AI / ML
- Fluency in English required; knowledge of French or other languages is a strong plus
What the job involves
- The Competitive Intelligence Analyst will play a critical role in building the foundation for this new function in Competitive Intelligence as part of the Product Marketing team at Akur8
- You’ll track key competitors and provide detailed analysis and tools that support Akur8’s growth in the global market for pricing and reserving solutions in the insurance sector
- Research key competitors in the insurance technology space. Proactively monitor and report on significant changes in the competitive landscape that could affect Akur8’s positioning
- Benchmark different competitors against key criteria (both technical and commercial) with the support of tech teams
- Create detailed, data-driven competitive intelligence collateral (e.g., battle cards, slides) for internal teams, including Product, Marketing, and Sales. Regularly present findings to the relevant stakeholders to support product and business strategy decisions
- Work closely with the Product, Marketing, and Sales teams to gather their needs and insights
- You'll join a highly skilled and motivated team that is willing to share their knowledge and passion for advanced data science, computer science and actuarial sciences
Our take
Putting the correct pricing on insurance has always been a challenge for insurers. Pricing too low can decimate its profits, but pricing too high is a sure-fire way to drive off customers. Despite this importance of pricing, it has generally remained a human task, and therefore prone to errors and biases.
Akur8 wants to change this, delivering an AI-based solution that automates pricing modelling for insurers, while maintaining the transparency and control required by regulators. By leveraging machine learning, the platform enhances insurers’ pricing processes, reducing modelling time whilst increasing predictive power.
Pricing in the insurance industry is changing fast, so keeping on top of such developments will be paramount to Akur8's success. Judging by its early metrics, though, it looks like this should be no problem. The company has already acquired big customers, including the likes of AXA and Generali, and has secured strong funding to support its growth.
