Senior Accountant, The Boring Company

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited university
• Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel
• 5+ years of experience in a professional accounting position

• The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions
• Maintain a general ledger, perform period-end closing activities, prepare journal entries and account reconciliations, reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly
• Manage tax preparation and filings (potentially with the help of outside tax advisors)
• Manage employee reimbursements, managing syncs, payments, and reconciliations
• Design processes or systems to maintain bulletproof financial records
• Work with the Accounts Payable team and all related activities such as receiving, downloading, and organizing all company invoices into a shared database
• Coordinate with the Procurement Department and end-users to confirm approvals and three-way match
• Perform monthly accruals and adjustments
• Maintain constant communication with vendors, suppliers, and stakeholders
• Resolve account discrepancies by investigating documentation, issuing stop payments, or adjustments
• Support business processes development and documentation, and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
