Who you are

Minimum of 5 years of working experience in developing server applications in Javascript or Typescript
Experience in building and deploying highly reliable applications and APIs and keeping such applications up 24x7
Proficiency in API building & design
Experience in Node.js & React
Experience designing SQL tables, choosing indexes, tuning queries
Experience in AWS, Docker, Kubernetes
Excellent communication skills and an exceptional eye for detail
You enjoy writing clean code that is easy to maintain and understand

What the job involves

In this position the candidate will work closely with the Head of Engineering, Product Managers, and stakeholders to execute on the product roadmap in effort to address business and customer needs
Take on challenging projects, everything from refactoring to developing new complicated feature
Work with engineering leadership to help refine the product roadmap
Work on making our application scalable through code and/or architecture & infrastructure
Work with and mentor other developers via pair programming & code reviews
Lead by example in being a craftsman of software development
Work in an agile environment & software development life cycle
Champion testing & automation
Encourage habits around technical excellence, evolutionary design and lifelong learning

Our take

Precision in scheduling and logistics is vital for the work of waste haulers, a sector that is responsible for the transportation of waste products from commercial sites. As sustainability becomes an ever more pressing issue, the need for haulers to meet the demands of net zero and environmental friendliness has meant that waste management software is in more demand than ever.

CurbWaste is a software solution for waste haulers to manage the logistics, tracking, training and onboarding needs of their business. With research suggesting that almost 70% of waste haulers prefer digital solutions, the company has tapped into a sector that, although originally reluctant to embrace digitization, has seen strong uptake and investment over the last few years.

That is certainly the case for CurbWaste, which received a funding round of $10 million at the end of 2023. The company will use this investment to expand its business reach, capitalising on the fact that waste management is coming under increasing scrutiny.
