Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go)
- Extensive experience with databases (e.g. Postgres), data warehousing, and stream processing technologies, including message brokers like Kafka
- Knowledge of data engineering best practices and ETL processes
- Experience in developing and integrating with RESTful APIs and websockets
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and containerization technologies
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools and practices
Desirable
- Experience with healthcare data standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7v2) and integrations
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security requirements
- Previous work in a startup environment or scaling early-stage products
What the job involves
- We're seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer to join our innovative team and play a crucial role in developing our AI-driven healthcare platform
- As a key member of our engineering team, you'll be responsible for building and maintaining our backend services and data engineering systems
- This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care by contributing to our cutting-edge AI risk screening platform
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and data engineering solutions, including databases, data warehouses, and streaming systems operating on large-scale datasets
- Implement services that interact with Kafka, write to databases, handle monitoring tasks, and integrate with healthcare system APIs
- Implement and manage advanced deployment strategies such as canary and blue-green deployments, as well as feature flag systems
- Collaborate closely with product, infrastructure, and ML engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions
- Contribute to the overall technical strategy and architecture of our platform
Our take
Founded after witnessing the tragic effects of untreated malnutrition in hospitals, HealthLeap AI aims to develop AI-assisted tools for healthcare professionals to better address hospital malnutrition. One such tool is the app NutriLeap, used by dieticians to enhance their assessment of a patient’s nutritional needs.
Typically, this work is done by hand but HealthLeap provides productivity-based solutions for often understaffed dietetics, enabling them to deliver efficient and bespoke treatment to patients. With the pandemic accelerating healthcare professionals’ use of digital tools, HealthLeap is positioned to capture a significant market share with its software.
With seed funding awarded in 2022, HealthLeap is now working to provide discharged patients with adequate aftercare, informing them of any changing nutritional needs, key to reducing hospital readmissions. Currently focused on the US market, HealthLeap's goal is to eradicate hospital malnutrition globally.
