Role
Who you are
- You must possess a "hunter/closer" mentality with a proven track record of success within a value-driven sales model
- Ability to negotiate SaaS/cloud/software contracts
- Must be fluent English and Italian
- 3+ years of field experience in a quota-carrying role focused on landing net-new logos
- Prior experience in Big Data, Cloud, SaaS, Open Source, or Enterprise IT Solutions
- Previous sales methodology training (i.e. MEDDPICC, Challenger, etc)
- Consistent track record of success and history of overachieving and hitting quota attainment
- Exceptional communication skills - written and oral including strong presentation skills
- Excellent time management skills
- High integrity, intelligence, self-driven, and team player
- Highly developed selling, customer relations, and negotiation skills
- Open to Travel to customer locations as needed
- BS/BA degree or equivalent preferred
- Based in Barcelona, Spain
What the job involves
- As a member of the Confluent Sales Team, the Account Executive, Digital Native Business is responsible for selling Confluent solutions to small and medium-sized enterprises
- We expect you to use your prospecting, sales, negotiation, and leadership skills to effectively sell Confluent offerings to leading companies to meet and exceed your quarterly sales target
- Responsible for driving revenue growth for large, diverse, complex territories
- Proactively prospect, identify, qualify, develop, and close a sales pipeline
- Manage the entire sales process, and collaborate with team members in business development, customer success, and support
- Participate in the development, presentation, and sales of a value proposition
- Partner with Solutions Engineers & Professional Services to ensure customer success
- Liaises with customer contacts to manage customer relationships, identify new opportunities, and maximize sales
- Responsible for understanding Confluent offerings and the competitive landscape
- Travels to customer sites to identify/develop sales opportunities when required
Our take
Confluent is a commercial company built on top of the open-source Apache Kafka project. Confluent and Kafka have developed a streaming data technology that processes massive amounts of information in real-time.
The streaming database technology was developed at LinkedIn as a way of moving massive amounts of messages. The company decided to open-source that tech in 2011, and Confluent launched as the commercial arm in 2014.
While the base open-source component remains available for free download, it doesn’t include the additional tooling the company has built to make it easier for enterprises to use Kafka. Confluent's value add is in those additional tools, including a cloud version of the product and a marketplace for sharing extensions to the platform.
Confluent expanded strategic partnerships with Microsoft and acquired Immerok, and in 2023 expanded its cloud platform. 2024 saw further product expansions with the launch of the Confluent Migration Accelerator, all exemplifying how the company is living up to its name by rocket-boosting the benefits of Apache Kafka integration for companies.
