Role
Who you are
- Advanced undergraduate or graduate student in business, urban planning, or a related field
- Previous experience or coursework in Smart Cities, technology, or sustainability is advantageous
- Languages: Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of German, Spanish, or Portuguese is big a plus
- Highly proactive mindset—ready to learn, adapt, and contribute
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for collaboration in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments
- Excellent research and analytical abilities
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and independent work
- Basic understanding of SaaS solutions, tender processes, or Smart City concepts
- Familiarity with sectors like energy, mobility, data, or urban planning is a plus
What the job involves
- We are seeking a motivated intern to join our private sector team and contribute to our business development efforts in Smart Cities
- The internship focuses on supporting SaaS solutions and tender activities
- This is a full-time internship for a period of 6 months, starting as soon as possible
- As an intern, you will actively contribute to driving growth in the Smart Cities sector by supporting our business development activities, particularly with SaaS solutions and tenders. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting in-depth market research on SaaS trends and Smart City tenders in the private sector
- Identifying potential partnerships and business opportunities
- Supporting the preparation and submission of tender documents
- Engaging in strategic outreach to private sector stakeholders and clients
- Contributing to the development of proposals and pitch decks tailored to client needs
- Your exact tasks will be tailored to align with your skills, interests, and the team’s priorities

Smart Cities are on the rise, offering environmental, logistical and economical benefits. BABLE, a spin-off from Europe’s largest applied research institution, wants to support this. It supplies management and consultancy services to help connect cities with the companies who can help them execute smart solutions.
There’s an increasing demand for urban planning and management solutions, many of which already exist - but perhaps didn’t get the right funding and support to scale properly. BABLE connects this supply and demand, offering value to both sides.
It’s an interesting niche to be filling. And, with the general push in Western countries to catch up with the smart city transformations of the East, BABLE is successfully tapping into a growing and possibly highly lucrative sector.
