Role
Who you are
- We’re seeking a strategic, hands-on marketing leader who can drive go-to-market success
- You thrive in a small, agile team with a strong bias for action
- You are curious, open-minded and passionate about digital democracy
- You have 5+ years of hands-on experience working in marketing or growth in the US market. You have over 4+ years of experience in building and leading high-performing teams, fostering collaboration by leveraging individual strengths
- You have demonstrable experience or a strong desire to work with the US public sector, can strongly relate to our digital democracy mission, and can show a solid understanding of resident engagement and public governance. This is why we’re all here!
- You are very fluent in English, both in writing and verbally. Proficiency in other European languages (esp. German, Dutch, French) is a plus, too
- A strong plus is your proven track record of working in the Western European markets
- You are a strategic thinker and can successfully connect the dots. You excel at designing go-to-market strategies, approaching this in a structured way, and involving multiple stakeholders
- You are tech-savvy and analytical, keen on automating wherever possible, and familiar with technical/digital marketing channels (incl. SEO and SEA)
- You are a relationship builder who loves to spar both internally and externally and bring ideas from start to finish
- You are hungry to learn and teach, embodied through an empathetic and collaborative leadership style
- You have a hands-on attitude, love running experiments and re-iterate upon data insights, and come with creative ideas for new growth

What the job involves
- As our Head of Growth, you’ll lead Go Vocal’s international growth, shape go-to-market strategies, and build a strong global brand to bring Go Vocal to 1,000+ cities within 3 years
- Develop and implement GTM playbooks for the US
- Scale lead generation through digital campaigns, partnerships, and content marketing
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with municipal associations and stakeholders to unlock new distribution channels
- Position Go Vocal as a thought leader in participatory democracy through storytelling, events, and media
- Refine brand messaging and visual identity to ensure consistency across markets
- Highlight Go Vocal’s impact with creative campaigns and success stories from government partners
- Empower a five-person marketing team, fostering creativity, growth, and purpose
- Collaborate across teams, including Country Managers, Sales, Product, and GovSuccess, to align strategies
- Define and track key performance metrics, using data insights to optimize strategies with the CEO
Our take
Founded in 2015 with the purpose of making decision-making more equitable, CitizenLab offers a platform used by local governments to enable them to engage people online and make informed decisions.
What was three clients in 2016 is now numbered at around 400 with the company working with hundreds of local governments and organisations across 18 countries. Recent global events have meant that the government plays an even larger role in people’s lives, hence more citizens are willing to engage in policy-making, creating more demand for its service.
To adapt to the evolving landscape, CitizenLab has embraced change by adopting an open-source approach, thereby lowering the barriers to participation and enhancing transparency. In line with its commitment to facilitating public engagement, CitizenLab has also forged a strategic partnership with Konveio. This collaboration aims to streamline the accessibility and interaction with public documents, including feedback-gathering exercises, and promoting transparency in decision-making processes.
