Role
Who you are
- 7+ years of software engineering experience implementing and maintaining critical systems at scale
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Ability to write maintainable and secure code in Python
- Track record of driving engineering excellence through high standards, constructive code reviews, and mentorship
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional security initiatives and navigate complex organizational dynamics
- Outstanding communication skills, translating technical concepts effectively across all organizational levels
- Demonstrated success in bringing clarity and ownership to ambiguous technical problems
- Strong systems thinking with ability to identify and mitigate risks in complex environments

What the job involves
- Anthropic is working on frontier AI research that has the potential to transform how humans and machines interact
- As our models grow more powerful, securing them from exfiltration or misuse becomes critically important
- In this role, you'll be helping to build and institute controls to lock down our AI training pipelines, apply security architecture patterns built for adversarial environments, and secure our model weights as we scale model capabilities
- Design and implement secure-by-default controls as they relate to our software supply chain, AI model training systems, and deployment environments
- Perform security architecture reviews, threat modeling, and vulnerability assessments to identify and remediate risks
- Support Anthropic's responsible disclosure and bug bounty programs and participate in the Security Engineering team's on-call rotation
- Accelerate the development of Anthropic's security engineers through mentorship and coaching, and contribute to company building activities like interviewing
- Help build greater security awareness across the organization and coach engineers on secure coding practices
- Lead and contribute towards large efforts such as building multi-party authorization for AI-critical infrastructure, helping to reduce sensitive production access, and securing build pipelines

Funded by Google and founded by ex-OpenAI employees, Anthropic is an AI company focused on building a reliable, innovative AI system. While the company is relatively new to the market it has already launched a highly anticipated AI chat assistant called Claude which is set to rival OpenAI's ChatGPT.
Similar to other chatbots, Claude is accessible through a chat interface and can provide a number of conversation and text-processing tasks. A key point of differentiation is that Claude is designed to produce less harmful outputs than that of the other chatbots that came before it.
While there is much praise for the chat assistant, there is still room for improvement with feedback reporting that Claude is worse at maths and grammar compared to its rival. However, with industry giants like Google backing this company from an early stage, it is clear Anthropic has the potential to become a leading player within the AI industry.
