Role
Who you are
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of experience as a social media manager, content strategist, or similar role, preferably in-house for a major technology or consumer brand
- Expert-level knowledge of major social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, X) and their respective content strategies, metrics, and best practices
- Exceptional writing and editorial skills with a strong portfolio of impactful social media content and demonstrates ability to manage and deliver complex, high-visibility projects from concept to completion
- Proven ability to manage resources (vendors/contractors) to scale community management and ensure 24/7 coverage and swift escalation when needed
- Advanced proficiency with social listening, content management, and analytics tools (e.g., Sprinklr, Sprout Social, Google Analytics etc)
Desirable
- Experience in the autonomous vehicles, technology or automotive industry
- Demonstrated success in managing social media platforms during a crisis or high visibility scenario
- Experience and/or understanding of social customer care and the rapid, empathetic resolution of public and private customer support inquiries across social channels
- Experience managing budgets for social media content and/or paid promotion

- On the Waymo Marketing team, you will help to connect people with the magic and impact of Waymo's autonomous driving technology
- Our team has the unique opportunity to not only grow Waymo's brand from the ground up, but to also build societal acceptance for autonomous driving technology for the first time in history
- We build thoughtful marketing strategy, positioning, messaging and creative assets to deliver messages that matter to our audience, communicated through anything from video content, to social media interactions, to immersive physical experiences
- We also shape Waymo's go-to-market initiatives, helping to transform Waymo into a thriving business with a growing user base
- Community Management - Manage all facets of Waymo’s online community engagement, including proactive monitoring, customer advocacy, alerts, and (in partnership with agency, PR) swift, professional crisis response
- Content Planning - Own the day-to-day content calendar and plan for Waymo’s social media channels, including creative concepting, copywriting, visual assets, and production, ensuring content aligns with Waymo’s brand expression on social media platforms
- Social Strategy - Contribute to the overall social media strategy by providing expert insight into platform specific strategies, creative performance, and capitalize on trending moments in the cultural landscape
- Accountable - Own performance tracking, optimization, reporting, and analytics for all social content and campaigns, providing data-driven insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders and senior leadership
Our take
Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company that began as the Google self-driving car project in 2009. After initial development, it secured permits to deploy autonomous ride-hailing services in cities including Phoenix and San Francisco, but has recently hit a major bump in the road with safety concerns that resulted in a recall of over 400 self-driving cars.
With the autonomous driving industry already besieged by setbacks and public distrust, this development does Waymo no favours. That said, as an industry leader there remains the possibility it will see out the storm, but massive attention will need to be given to rebuilding trust with consumers if this is to be the case.
