Who you are
- We are looking for candidates that are self-motivated and eager to learn new technologies, work well both within a team and on their own, and have an attention to detail.
- At least 5 years of commercial experience with JavaScript and TypeScript and its nuances, including ES6+ syntax, React, React Native and GraphQL
- Product minded: committed to building the best user experience
- Understand the trade-offs in employing different engineering solutions to a problem, valuing pragmatism over idealism
- Eager and open to learning
- General understanding of Swift, Objective-C and Java
- Experience with AWS
- Experience with Server-side JS e.g. Node JS
- Familiar with event-based and microservices architectures
- Understanding the standards and rules regulated by the Apple Developer/Connect system
- Have an app hosted publicly in the Google or Apple app store(s)
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Core development team.
- As a team member, you will play a role in building, maintaining, designing, and implementing new and current features across our web and mobile app product(s) on both the iOS and Android platforms.
- Building product and innovative features is a highly collaborative effort, and as such, a strong team player with a commitment to perfection is required.
- Development of the frontend architecture including creating and maintaining core web and mobile components
- Work with other senior engineers to drive and deliver on our product roadmap, turning rough specs into features
- Provide leadership and mentorship to other frontend and mobile engineers on the team
- Find elegant solutions to usability problems. Build pixel-perfect, buttery smooth UIs across both all our frontend platforms
- Engineer new features that can work seamlessly across all of maintained web and mobile applications
- Leverage APIs for integrations with other platforms

Wahed provides an ethical and Halal investment platform, allowing users to invest smartly across diversified portfolios without lock-in periods, hidden fees, or one-size-fits-all investment strategies. The platform includes a variety of robo-investment tools to personalise smart investment strategies to the user's financial goals, ensuring that all returns come from Halal financial sources.
Whilst it is inevitable that Wahed will face great competition from many investment platforms, the company has found a gap in the market by focussing on a Muslim audience, recognising that many do not invest due to earnings being non-halal. The company is well-funded and has been steadily expanding, launching new features along the way such as its dedicated Waqf (Islamic endowment) feature to help tackle the cost of living crisis.
