Who you are
- This role is ideal for a concept-driven designer with exceptional taste and strong creative instincts, someone who thrives in ambiguity, pushes for bold ideas, and knows how to guide others toward high-quality execution
- 9+ years of experience in marketing design, with a strong focus on campaigns and art direction
- Experience operating at a staff or ACD level, leading creative direction for high-impact work
- Proven ability to take campaigns from zero to one, from concept through execution
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong conceptual thinking and storytelling, art direction across integrated campaigns, high craft and attention to detail
- Experience working in tech or high-growth companies that have been through scale
- Strong communication skills. You can clearly articulate creative rationale, lead brainstorms, and build alignment across creative teams and cross-functional partners
- Comfort operating in fast-paced environments, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- A passion for design and curiosity about how AI and emerging technologies are shaping creative work
What the job involves
- As a Staff Designer, specialized in Art Direction at Abridge, you will set a new standard for design in healthcare, raising the bar for how campaigns are crafted and brought to life and shaping how Abridge looks, feels, and communicates through every moment
- This role sits at the intersection of brand, marketing, and storytelling—translating complex ideas into compelling creative direction that drives impact across every touchpoint
- You’ll lead campaigns from zero to one, defining the visual direction, and partnering with other designers to bring that vision to life
- Lead campaign art direction from concept to execution. Develop big ideas and visual narratives for key campaigns and launches. Turn strategy into work that is distinctive, cohesive, and emotionally resonant
- Build scalable campaign systems. Define the identity, tone, and frameworks for each campaign. Create flexible systems that enable consistent execution across channels and empower other designers
- Continue to evolve our brand expression. Push the brand forward through high-impact work while ensuring consistency across touchpoints. Build on existing systems while knowing when to break and redefine them
- Inspire and elevate other designers. Provide clear direction, feedback, and support to designers working alongside your vision. Elevate the team through strong critique, and high standards
- Translate strategy into storytelling. Craft narratives that connect across campaigns, channels, and audiences—bringing clarity and cohesion to complex ideas
- Drive alignment through clear communication. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align on vision and execution. Present and defend creative work with clarity and conviction
- Maintain a high bar for craft. Model excellence across typography, layout, composition, and systems thinking. Stay hands-on in key moments to ensure quality and polish
Our take
Summarising key elements of healthcare conversations is crucial for both physicians and patients. Medical scribes, though effective, are costly, and the healthcare system faces funding and staffing crises. This has created a demand for more efficient notetaking solutions.
This is where Abridge comes in; it has developed a HIPAA-compliant AI platform that transcribes, structures, summarises, and provides insights from audio or transcripts of medical conversations. It claims to work across all specialities and offers patient-friendly summaries in easy-to-understand language.
Abridge aims to alleviate pressure on the healthcare system from the patient's perspective, a unique approach among healthtech startups. While companies like Inovia, DOUB, and DeepScribe focus on assisting physicians with medical transcription AI, they lack Abridge's patient-centric features, which are valuable in enhancing the patient experience. Its unique focus, then, is part of the reason why it enjoyed two impressive rounds of funding in 2025 alone.
