Role

Who you are

  • 8+ years of relevant SEM experience in a consumer-facing, fast-paced ecommerce company. Product management experience is a big plus
  • An agile marketer who is comfortable with an evolving team structure, and willing and able to put on many hats and balance multiple projects
  • Solid track record of successfully managing and executing large-scale B2C SEM campaigns and cross-functional projects. Experience with marketplaces is a plus
  • Deep understanding of SEM strategy and management, with strong interest in how it works “under the hood” (i.e. tracking, marketing tech stack, tooling, privacy)
  • Exceptional project management and organization skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience working directly with Product and Engineering teams to drive technical projects
  • Results-driven marketer with proven quantitative and analytical skills; should be extremely comfortable with Excel (functions, pivots, etc.) and reporting tools like Tableau and SQL
  • Creative, methodical problem-solving skills with focus on efficient execution while balancing big-picture thinking
  • Proactive & independent, always looking for ways to take initiative and improve existing programs/processes
  • Must be a collaborative, cross-functional team player and comfortable partnering with a variety of teams from Engineering to Design
  • Must exhibit superb verbal and written communication skills with a high degree of comfort interpreting results and communicating insights effectively to stakeholders and senior leadership

What the job involves

  • The Growth Marketing team at Airbnb is at the intersection of marketing, engineering and data science. Our work is imperative to driving the top line of the entire company
  • As a Senior Growth Marketing Manager, you will play a critical role in managing Airbnb's relationship with our guests
  • Your responsibilities include helping develop the strategy, enhancement, and execution of search marketing campaigns and projects across all engines, focused on improving our current setup, to ultimately grow the search program in a future proof setup that can scale and support all of Airbnb’s business
  • You will be responsible for end-to-end execution, from strategy alignment, to capturing business requirements, to planning, delivery, and evaluation of performance against KPIs
  • You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, Brand and Creative to set and exceed aggressive growth targets
  • Responsible for helping to develop and execute on global demand generation strategies to drive conversions and growth
  • Maintain strong relationships with Marketing Ops and Marketing Technology teams by having a deep understanding of our tech and tooling needs and working with (regional) operations to deliver solutions to fit unique needs
  • Execute flawlessly against local and global strategies driving growth, report on results and recommend next steps on scaling
  • Work closely with regional cross-functional partners to action on demand/ supply insights and seasonal moments to capitalize on, as well as integrating policy-led initiatives into campaigns where appropriate
  • Partner with brand marketing and merchandising by crafting the search and landing page strategies to support large company-wide initiatives and launches
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in SEM to continuously improve execution and optimizations
  • Own project management and cross-functional campaign development workflow with dedicated Product, Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, and Creative teams
  • Conduct regular, extensive experimentation to facilitate rapid learning & application of any insights
  • Translate business goals into accurate delivery requirements, including but not limited to: specifying required data, segmentation & targeting logic, and content requirements
  • Initiate and conduct in-depth user data analyses and experimentation that will directly impact strategy and the program roadmap

Our take

When Airbnb was originally founded, the product helped customers book air mattresses on people's apartment floors. Since then, Airbnb has had over a billion customers hosted through its platform. With more than 4 million registered hosts worldwide, it has grown into a major player in the hospitality sector.

Airbnb has been successful in disrupting the traditional holiday lettings sector. Before it existed accommodation was limited to hotels and bed and breakfasts, but Airbnb has mainstreamed the idea of renting out spare rooms or even entire homes. It has created a new sector of hosts purchasing properties to rent out on the platform and provides a level of flexibility and a range of offerings not previously possible for travelers.

Perhaps a victim of its own success, by 2022 supply of Airbnb-listed properties began to outstrip demand in some markets, as hosts overestimated the appetite for domestic travel. However, the company is still posting strong financials and has unveiled new tools to support its hosts in a tougher rental market. With a healthy bottom line and a huge user base, Airbnb is very likely to overcome the current market turbulence and continue its growth.
