Sensat creates digital twins - virtual replicas of real-world locations that help organisations better understand, plan and manage physical environments. The company initially focused on construction, an industry not exactly known for embracing new technology, but its platform has since attracted interest from organisations well beyond that original market.
The company's technology has been used on more than £10.5B worth of major infrastructure projects, and it even became the first company in the UK to receive approval to fly autonomous drones beyond visual line of sight over major motorways.
Construction remains its strongest foothold, and Sensat is widely recognised as being ahead of the curve when it comes to digital twin technology for the sector. The bigger question now is whether it can turn that early lead into something much broader. If digital twins become as commonplace across industries as many expect, Sensaat could find itself with opportunities far beyond the market it originally set out to serve.
