- We are seeking an experienced litigation counsel who can manage consumer arbitration and litigation matters in the US
- 6+ years of litigation experience at a top law firm
- Experience managing and successfully resolving strategic litigation
- Experience with US and California consumer protection law and consumer class actions
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to manage expanding litigation practice, using outside counsel strategically and efficiently
- Excellent judgment, analytical rigor, clear communication, and business pragmatism
- Team player essential -- willing to tackle tasks large or small
- Ability to learn new areas of the law quickly and well
- Organized and detail oriented
- Experience in the crypto industry is a bonus
What the job involves
- Our growing legal team is building out its litigation practice
- You will be working in a cutting edge and fast paced environment, where disruptive technologies and unconventional thinking are the norm
- The successful candidate will also assist with international consumer litigation and regulatory matters
- This position will report to our Associate General Counsel, Global Consumer Litigation, who is based in the US
- Manage fast-paced docket of consumer litigation in the US
- Develop, execute, and continuously assess Coinbase global consumer litigation strategy and tactics, including providing thought leadership, strategic direction and proactive solutions
- Identify and mitigate consumer protection issues and risks arising out of operating the most trusted crypto platforms in numerous jurisdictions on multiple continents
- Advise a cross-functional team of internal and external stakeholders on Coinbase’s global consumer litigation matters and strategy
- Draft and file pleadings and briefs as needed
- Engage and manage outside counsel to effectively and efficiently represent Coinbase
- Work collegially and supportively with other members of the legal team

With features like crypto wallets, direct bank account linking, and merchant payment tools, it's helping bring crypto into the mainstream. But the company isn't just relying on its early success, it's evolving fast to stay relevant in a rapidly changing market.
Lately, its doubled down on its focus on institutional clients, now serving as the custodian for the majority of approved Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, and its Prime platform offers a full suite of services for hedge funds, asset managers, and financial institutions. As demand for regulated crypto products rise globally (particularly in Asia), Coinbase is ready to expand.
And it's even making moves to engage with younger audiences, having recently partnered with Riot Games to sponsor global eSports events for League of Legends and Valorant. This partnership highlights Coinbase's strategy to integrate Web3 technologies into mainstream entertainment, aiming to bridge the gap between gaming and cryptocurrency for a new generation of users.
