Who you are
- At least a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a similar field
- 8+ years of proven success on the company side in a financial or consulting role (software product & PE/VC backed strongly preferred). Alternatively, experience in financial management, strategic management consulting or investment banking
- First-hand experience in building and leading an effective team
- Hands-on & proactive is your way of working
- Experience in developing and implementing financial strategies, financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Experience in working with/ implementing LucaNet, DATEV and Salesforce is beneficial
- Experience in operational (group) accounting, e.g. consolidation, intercompany accounting is beneficial
- Experience in the preparation of annual financial statements (in cooperation with a tax advisor) and audits
- Strong software business acumen and financial acuity, with the ability to provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making
- Understanding of legal concepts and translation of commercials into contractual frameworks
- Experience with negotiation, drafting and managing of commercial agreements and T&Cs
- Intrigued by going the extra mile and passion for pragmatic execution
- Fluent in both German and English
What the job involves
- As our Head of Finance & Legal, you will play a crucial role in driving our vision forward and making a deep impact on the company
- In this role, you will work directly with the Co-Founder / Co-CEO, our Chief of Staff, leadership team, investors and have a unique opportunity to shape the future of TWAICE
- As a trusted partner, you will be responsible for leading the company's financial & legal operations to drive growth, manage costs, and ensure financial sustainability
- Lead and manage the controlling, accounting and legal team (5 people total), including setting clear goals and expectations, providing regular feedback, and creating a positive and collaborative work culture
- Collaborate with the TWAICE executive team to develop and contribute to the company's overall commercial strategy whilst ensuring financial sustainability
- Create and manage the financial plan and budget, allocating resources effectively to achieve maximum return on investment
- Be fully responsible for the execution of all reporting related topics, including monthly financial reporting, monthly management reporting (including financial & operative KPI), monthly investor reporting
- Analyze and evaluate financials along with business performance, identifying opportunities for growth, optimization, and risk mitigation
- Drive the company reporting for all involved stakeholders, explicitly investors, to tell a story in addition to highlighting and forecasting business performance
- Oversee financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, tax, audit, data privacy and compliance
- Shape and consult the commercialization of our software through the right legal contractual frameworks
- Oversee and lead all legal activities together with our legal counsel
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including investors and tax advisors to manage financial risk and secure funding as needed
- Oversee data privacy across the organization with the involvement of the data protection officer and ensure GDPR compliance
- Ensure financial policies and procedures are in place and adhered to, promoting transparency and accountability
- Orchestrate the required business certifications we must maintain and acquire to fulfill our commercial goals

The energy storage ecosystem has an important part to play in enabling renewably operated systems, and batteries play a key role in this ecosystem. However, many battery monitoring tools are not able to produce analysis quick enough, presenting issues for systems where the cost of failure is high.
Twaice provides predictive analytics software that optimises the operation of lithium-ion batteries, with applications for electric vehicles and green utilities. Its digital twin platform combines deep battery knowledge and AI to determine battery condition, and predict ageing and performance. This improves battery performance and supports the wider adoption of renewable energy sources and EVs.
Twaice has seen impressive investment, which has helped it further optimise its cloud analytics platform, as well as expand operations in Europe and North America. The company has a strong client list, including more than five of the world’s leading OEMs, which is testament to the value of its offering.
