Role
Who you are
- We’re looking for a people-first Engineering Manager to guide and support our multi-disciplinary engineering team, playing a key role over the next 2-3 years in growing and evolving the team to enable us to meet our ambitious growth plan for the business.
- You’ll be passionate about building and scaling teams, driving delivery, and creating the conditions for engineers to do their best work. Your main focus will be leading planning, prioritisation, and execution — not writing code — though you’ll be involved in architectural and delivery conversations with your solid technical expertise.
- You have proven experience (2+ years) managing software engineering teams in a product-led SaaS environment.
- You have a solid grasp of modern software development practices and can facilitate conversations between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You have experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid approaches).
- You are skilled at running planning meetings, prioritising work, maintaining JIRA boards, and keeping delivery on track across multiple streams.
- You are comfortable supporting cross-functional teams that include front-end, back-end, QA, and DevOps.
- You have a track record of building strong, engaged teams and developing engineers to reach their potential.
- You have excellent communication skills, enabling you to bring clarity, empathy, and focus to team discussions and decision-making.
Desirable
- And, ideally (though it’s not a deal-breaker) you have an interest or experience in AI/ML technologies.
What the job involves
- Line manage a team of five engineers across multiple disciplines: front-end, back-end, QA, and DevOps
- Build and maintain a high-trust, high-autonomy team culture grounded in psychological safety and continuous improvement
- Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and scaling the engineering team to support our growth plans for the next several years
- Support engineers’ technical and career development through coaching, feedback, and structured growth plans
- Run stand-ups, sprint planning, prioritisation sessions, retrospectives, and delivery check-ins, ensuring alignment and momentum
- Champion best practices in Agile delivery and lead the ongoing improvement of our engineering processes
- Promote cross-functional collaboration, ensuring smooth communication between product, engineering, and design functions to shape and deliver well-scoped, high-impact work across multiple product streams

Our take
Wellness and organisation apps are a dime a dozen, but ones focused specifically on the well-being and practicalities of living with a learning difficulty are far fewer. Booost Education melds mental health support, diary and workload management, and routine building features into one platform.
With a team of disability needs assessors and UX designers behind the app, Booost is backed by founders with a solid understanding of what neurodiverse students need to help them succeed in the study. The product is currently live and available, both for UK students receiving the Disabled Students Allowance grant and for individuals, schools, colleges and universities.
Whilst apps such as Asana and Epic Win dominate the American market, there appears to be space for Booost in the UK software industry. That being said, Booost should partner with universities and DSA governing bodies to make sure it reaches as much of its target audience as possible, who must be convinced to use it regularly for it to make the biggest difference.
