Who you are
- This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field and 4 years of related experience
- Must also have 24 months of experience, as demonstrated through employment or academic coursework, with each of the following:
- Analyzing large datasets to identify patterns and data insights
- Building and deploying systems for automating business processes
- Working with Python and common data science and machine learning libraries such as numpy, pandas, and pytorch
- Fine tuning transformer-based language models for classification and data extraction from documents from the financial service industry
- Source code management, debugging, testing, and deployment
- Text pre-processing and normalization techniques, including tokenization and POS tagging for text document processing
- Using NLP deep learning algorithms for text document processing and for financial documents and working directly with NLP for digital documents and scans, including extracting and modeling the text and layout of those documents
- And Leading technical projects and managing and mentoring junior data scientists, engineers, and interns. Will accept experience gained before, during, or after Master’s program. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently
What the job involves
- Responsible for leading, developing, and implementing cutting-edge Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithms that automate the processing of business documents
- Work closely with our product and engineering teams to ensure that our solutions are scalable, efficient, and effective
- Specific duties include:
- Develop features to upgrade the core functionality of Alkymi's platform
- Communicate technical concepts and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Monitor the performance of AI solutions deployed to production. Perform maintenance as necessary
- Build end-to-end data extraction pipelines using transformers, large language models and various natural language processing techniques to extract structured information from unstructured financial documents for diverse use cases
- Act as the technical lead on projects
- Supervise and mentor 1- 3 junior data scientists. Telecommuting available from anywhere in US. HQ at 228 Park Ave S, Ste. 63730, NY, NY 10003
Our take
The rise of automation software has proven a real boon for handling the various time-consuming administrative tasks that keep professionals away from the work they’re trained to do best. Alkymi is one of the startups developing it, with a focus on assisting analysts in the financial services sector.
The Alkymi data workflow automation platform offers two products that help analysts extract and act upon unstructured business data in emails and documents. It can be easily customised, allowing users to leverage the benefit of machine learning and computer vision - without needing deep expertise in the area. This chimes with a broader no-code movement in the SaaS market, as startups look for lucrative ways to help companies manage the tech talent shortage.
Alkymi has focused initially on financial services because of the vast amounts of data processing that analysts in the sector have to do each day. It’s a significant drain on time and resources, but it’s an issue that extends equally to other verticals. Beginning with the more complex use case will allow Alkymi to more readily expand to other sectors as it releases new products and develops its current range.
