Who you are

The ideal candidate possesses a comprehensive understanding of SaaS metrics, subscription billing, cloud billing processes, cost allocation, and revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred
5-7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with at least 3 years in a SaaS environment
Expertise in AWS Marketplace billing and cloud cost management, including cost allocation and optimization
Strong understanding of SaaS metrics, subscription billing, and deferred revenue
Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks and Bill.com)
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

What the job involves

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Assistant Controller to oversee the financial operations of our SaaS organization, with expertise in AWS and GCP billing as well as cloud financial management
This role will manage accounting, reporting, compliance, and financial planning while supporting the company’s growth and scalability
Overseeing and managing all aspects of financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
Overseeing all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions
Managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Preparing financial statements in compliance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy and completeness
Developing robust processes for tracking and reconciling AWS MP and GCP billing
Managing Salesforce billing, including subscription tracking, user licensing, and usage-based expenses
Establishing controls and governance frameworks for managing and auditing cloud billing processes
Partnering with engineering and DevOps teams to forecast cloud costs and optimize resource allocation
Ensuring compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards, particularly for subscription-based revenue
Collaborating with sales and operations teams to align contract terms with revenue policies
Coordinating internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation is accurate and prepared
Maintaining compliance with tax, regulatory, and reporting requirements
Monitoring financial performance metrics, including variances, and recommend adjustments to improve profitability
Identifying and implementing process improvements to optimize financial systems, workflows, and controls
Providing insights into SaaS-specific KPIs such as ARR, MRR, churn, CAC, and LTV to guide strategic decisions
