Role
Who you are
- Significant communications experience (either via agency or in-house) with an innate curiosity and desire to tell great stories
- You will have excellent networking and writing skills, fuelled by a proactive, can-do attitude
- Highly-organised in nature, you’ll have well-developed planning skills and the confidence to deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders (including executive management)
- An excellent, established understanding of the global media landscape (areas of drinks, business, general news, sustainability and responsibility preferred) to provide strategic insights which underpin our press office, enabling you to manage the team/ agency with day-to-day duties
- You also have the skill and judgement to handle sensitive press enquiries in a diplomatic and timely manner, always protecting and shaping the reputation of Chivas Brothers
- Experience within the alcoholic drinks industry and additional languages are desirable
What the job involves
- The team collectively reports to the Communications Director working closely with all functions of the business to provide communications consultancy and support
- To deftly manage Chivas Brothers corporate communications function, credibly building reputation and supporting the business to achieve its strategic objectives
- You will act as the conduit between all communications functions (internal communications, brand communications and sustainability and responsibility) ensuring all corporate brand/ communications planning and activation is aligned to the big picture
- To oversee our retained corporate communications agency, overseeing the delivery of the workplan and ensuring the activity performs well against our objectives
- To unlock new opportunities for us to credibly build reputation in the area of sustainability and responsibility, supporting the business and this team specifically with the execution of speaking opportunities, reactive press opportunities and events sponsorships, advancing Chivas Brothers reputation as we progress towards our ambition to be carbon neutral in distillation by the end of 2026
- To support the business and communications function at large with issues and crisis management, using your network within the business to deliver thorough yet agile solutions to developing situations
- Internally, you’ll work with colleagues across the full business but notably with public affairs, manufacturing, production and marketing, to develop the Chivas Brothers corporate narrative and give it true meaning
- Externally, you will work directly with global media as well as agency partners and third-party organisations with whom we have sponsorships or partnerships to deliver
