Role
Who you are
- You are proficient in the common analytics tools (SQL, Looker, Posthog,, etc.)
- You love making sense of numbers and are really good at it
- You have a "get-it-done" attitude despite setting up things from scratch
- You were part of the first 1-50 employees at an early stage technology company, no matter in what position
- You are highly reliable and can organise your work really well
- We're looking for someone who can start ASAP for a minimum internship of 3 months. 6 months is preferred
- We are also open to working students who can work minimum 20h/week
What the job involves
- Create actionable insights to reach Net zero
- Identify data patterns to help users understand their CO2e footprints
- Create powerful data visualisations - our corporate users and farmers don’t live in spreadsheets
- Empower teams to "self-service"
- Enable teams to access, analyze, and act on data independently
- Build back-office functions for our Operations team to be more efficient in supporting users
- Enhance our KPI dashboards & product analytics
- Create and maintain KPI dashboards for monitoring business metrics across teams
- Improve Posthog dashboards and use smart SQL queries to track feature implementation and success
- This role requires presence in our Berlin office. There is a high possibility that we will offer the candidate a full-time position after their internship in case of excellent performance

Our take
Food chains are responsible for anywhere between 20% and 30% of global greenhouse emissions, and it’s something businesses can’t sweep under the rug any longer. Tightening regulations require that businesses disclose their climate performance - and stakeholders and customers are paying close attention. Bad climate practices are increasingly bad for business, and Root Global is looking to help businesses keep their performance up.
The Root software platform is designed to help food and beverage companies shoot for a zero-carbon future, by offering what Root hopes will become an industry-wide carbon operating system. Essentially, a database providing full life-cycle carbon emission data so businesses can make climate practise decisions based on accurate, comprehensive data - instead of the current system of upstream and downstream estimates.
This could prove a highly valuable proposition. Increasingly large numbers of companies are setting science-based climate targets, but research suggests the majority of these are distant, imprecise, or lack actionable road maps to get there. So solid carbon accounting software is in urgent demand, and if Root can build out the client base necessary for industry-wide coverage, it stands to make a substantial impact.
