- We operate at scale with daily traffic levels rising to hundreds of thousands of requests per second
- We’re responsible for the infrastructure for our services as well as the services themselves
- Leverage expert-level knowledge of Javascript, React, and their ecosystems
- Modify our Ruby monolith as needed
- Use your appreciation for semantic HTML & accessibility, and keep these at the forefront of your mind while developing new UIs
- Collaborate with designers to craft accessible, reusable components and consistent design patterns
- Advocate for improvements to the product quality, security, and performance
- Represent the team and be a significant influence in the overall vision and long term goals for the team and product
- Be a partner to our engineering managers, especially by advocating and identifying technical debt or impediments that slow down the team's ability to deliver code to production
- Be able to ship large features and improvements with minimal guidance or support from other team members
- Elevate the work of the team and become a subject matter expert in an area that interests you
- Participate in an on-call rotation as needed
Our take
Servers have been essential to web development since the rise of the internet, but advancements in online infrastructure are causing them to become antiquated. This has resulted in a demand for an alternative to servers that is easier to deploy and scale on today’s web.
Netlify provides a platform that takes care of back-end infrastructure for front-end developers. The technology uses a new server architecture named Jamstack which migrates development functionality to a web browser. As a result, websites can be rendered directly through API microservices instead of calling servers.
The company has more than 4 million developers, and continues to focus on scaling its enterprise customer roster which currently includes Google, Facebook and Unilever. It has also adapted to support developers in the AI age, supplying extensions for observability and prerender, as well as an AI Gateway.
