Role
Who you are
- 3+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on designing, building, and deploying production-ready code
- Proficiency in a modern JavaScript framework like React or Next.js
- Experience in a backend language such as Go or Python for building and maintaining APIs
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing RESTful or GraphQL APIs
Desirable
- Experience with service based architecture
- Experience taking ownership of technical initiatives from start to finish
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
What the job involves
- Join the best engineering team in media. Morning Brew is looking for a passionate Full Stack engineer to join its small, tight knit engineering team
- We build incredible products using modern technology to innovate in the media space. We develop and ship quickly, we test and learn and iterate
- We have a high level of ownership. We are subject matter experts but understand the business context and architecture of the entire stack
- Building out new and enhancing existing internal tools, consumer facing websites & newsletter experiences
- Collaborating with the engineering team, performing code review and helping to set best development practices and guidelines
- Collaborating with Product Managers, Product Designers and other engineers to plan, design and implement business requirements
- Working with stakeholders to solve their problems
- Proposing and implementing new tools and technologies to accomplish product objectives

The last few years have seen a flurry of newsletters start up and rise to prominence. The pivot away from news outlets towards alternative content production sites like Substack, and the consumer pursuit of more personal brand engagement have all made newsletters a lucrative business proposition. Buoyed up by this trend is Morning Brew, a daily business summary newsletter.
Recently, Morning Brew’s subscriber count has been rising increasingly fast, topping 4 million at the time of writing. The founders put this down to its 2020 acquisition by media behemoth Insider, following which the headcount more than quadrupled, and new channels like a podcast, YouTube, and an education product have been added to the Morning Brew output.
The company is now looking to expand to cover news across more industry verticals, and it has the security, engagement, and means to do so with confidence. In 2023, it acquired the short-form business news video platform Our Future to expand Morning Brew product offerings.
