Role
Who you are
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on frontend development
- Expert-level proficiency with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and modern front-end architectures
- Demonstrated experience building or leading design systems, component libraries, or UI platforms used across multiple product teams
- Strong knowledge of performance optimization, accessibility (WCAG), responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility
- Deep familiarity with frontend tooling (Webpack, Vite, Turborepo, ESLint, Storybook) and testing frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, Jest, RTL)
- Proven ability to lead technical direction, mentor senior engineers, and drive adoption of standards
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams
Desirable
- Experience working in high-scale, low-latency, or real-time UI environments
- Strong understanding of design workflows using Figma and design-to-code alignment
- Experience with monorepos, shared library versioning, and package architecture
- Experience contributing to or building open-source UI frameworks or design systems
- Prior experience improving developer experience or UI platform capabilities
- Experience with data visualization, real-time collaboration patterns, and offline-first strategies
- Experience in high-scale, real-time domains (telephony, streaming media, or analogous event-driven systems)
- Familiarity with our broader stack: NodeJS with TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Ruby, GCP, and FreeSWITCH
What the job involves
- We are seeking a Staff/Sr Staff Frontend Software Engineer to lead the architecture, standards, and systems that power the user interface layer across our real-time, high-scale platform
- You will drive the long-term vision for our frontend ecosystem—building the foundational design system, shared component libraries, tooling, performance frameworks, and accessibility standards that enable all product teams to deliver exceptional user experiences
- This role is deeply technical and highly collaborative
- You will act as a force multiplier for UI development across the company, partnering closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, to establish a cohesive, high-performance frontend foundation
- As a Staff-level engineer, you will mentor and influence engineers across teams, lead cross-functional technical initiatives, and play a critical part in our UI Developer Experience (DevEx) strategy
- If you are passionate about frontend architecture, design systems, developer experience, performance, and building elegant, scalable interfaces, you will thrive in this role
- Define and lead the architecture of our frontend ecosystem, focusing on scalability, performance, and maintainability
- Own and evolve our unified design system, component library, and UI patterns in partnership with Design
- Improve developer velocity through standardized tooling, templates, build pipelines, and testing frameworks
- Establish and document frontend best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines
- Set and enforce performance budgets, accessibility standards, and UI quality benchmarks
- Integrate automated testing (unit, integration, visual, accessibility) into CI workflows
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality user experiences
- Mentor and influence engineers across teams, driving adoption of shared systems and frontend excellence
- Lead cross-team initiatives that modernize the frontend stack and improve product delivery velocity
Our take
While Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms such as Salesforce and Salesloft have undoubtedly helped shorten the sales cycle, particularly by helping generate high value leads, the onus is still on sales teams to manually reach out to potential customers.
This part of the sales process has long been taken at face value, despite how much time sales agents lose by calling bad numbers, reaching voicemail, and navigating existing account data.
Orum is aiming to change this with an AI-powered platform that filters out poor numbers and automates voicemails. It calls multiple numbers simultaneously, all in a bid to get sales reps on live calls as quickly and often as possible. That Orum plugs into the major CRMs like Salesforce, rather than competing with them, should help its cause.
Orum’s trajectory has been very positive thus far, frequently expanding its headcount, achieving impressive Series B funding and winning a number of high-profile customers such as Salesforce partner Simplus and data protection company Clumio.
