Role
Who you are
- You’ve worked in hospitality or the service industry
- You’ve planned and executed on social events
- You’ve worked in a startup environment or equivalent; we are looking for someone who has experienced a fast-paced environment
- You’re extremely comfortable working with a Mac. This role requires the ability to manage diaries (we use Google Workspace) and work with a variety of online tools
- You’re a great communicator, both verbally and in writing
- Our ideal candidate is smart, empathetic and driven, with a passion for helping others and creating truly excellent experiences
- Attention to detail is the most important aspect of this role. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who gets energy from being around other people
What the job involves
- This role will report into our People Lead
- This role's main focus is on seamlessly running the behind-the scenes magic of office management as well as supporting the team when they work remotely
- Office:
- Making sure the office runs smoothly for all employees
- Own and proactively driving improvements to ensure our office is in top shape (tidy, beautiful and functional); the office is never ‘finished’
- Warmly welcoming candidates, investors and visitors to the office
- Acting like a merchandiser when it comes to supplies for the office
- Handling day-to-day office administration and managing external relationships with vendors, landlords
- Owning and championing Health & Safety in the office (e.g. acting as a fire marshal; training in first aid; organising PAT tests & training, etc.)
- Community:
- Event planning for full team socials and outings, e.g. our holiday party
- Administration of Company rituals, e.g. our weekly all-hands
- Owning the onboarding process for all new joiners, and working directly with managers to create a bespoke experience
- Gather insight into what’s working and what needs improvement across socials and rituals
- Communicating People-related initiatives to the wider team, e.g. engagement surveys
- Misc personal admin for the CEO, e.g. booking appointments or travel
- Supporting with People admin, e.g. updating our HR tool, assisting with visa sponsorship

- Next you’ll meet Melissa, our VP People, for a CV-based interview
- After, you will have an interview at our office where you will have a more in-depth interview with the People team, involving practical task-based exercises
- And finally, you’ll meet our CEO Dan so you can get an even better feel for our company and culture

Our take
In the UK, the majority of wills and probates are made by solicitors or will-writing firms. However, these are often extremely expensive and not affordable for most people.
A growing number of DIY will services have popped up over the last few years, but most have poor user experience and no real support beyond the form itself. Customers are required to read 10-20 pages of legal documents and decide what applies to them. Farewill's technology asks simple questions and generates legal text. Wills are important legal documents, and so each will is still checked by a specialist. Customers to date have raised hundreds of millions of pounds in charity by leaving a gift in their will.
A competitor in the US (Willing) has taken the freemium route, referring customers to funeral services to make money. However, Farewill believes it can provide a better experience if the product is paid for. Farewell is also partnering with UK companies to provide the service as a perk to their employees, a novel distribution method.
Since launching in 2015, the company has also delved into funeral services. By blending smart technology, Farewill prides itself in dealing with all aspects of death and is committed to making this process faster and fairer for people all over the UK.
