Who you are
- Ability to manage complex projects effectively (sets clear goals, identifies roadblocks, designs solutions, and tracks progress against deadlines)
- Self-motivated attitude with the ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous work environment
- Experience developing project strategies
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability toward the projects
- AR/Content user experience design understanding, critical thinking skills for noticing potential improvements of user experience
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with Jira management or similar task management software
- Passion for Snapchat and creativity!
- BA/BS degree in a related field such as computer science, digital media, game design, or business, or equivalent years of experience with AR projects, creative agencies, consumer tech, or entertainment
- 5+ years of experience with project schedule management and work breakdown structures

What the job involves
- The Lens Team creatively applies innovative augmented reality technology to design and ship Face Lenses, World Lenses, AR Games, Utilities and more
- This team is composed of designers, data scientists, and product/program managers, interactive engineers that create custom AR lenses and interactive Snapchat games
- We’re looking for an AR Project Manager to join the Lenses team at Snap Inc!
- Partner with cross-functional teams to accurately capture the essence of projects and timelines needed to execute projects
- Manage the project process from assessment and definition, creative and technical design, production and development, testing and launch standpoints
- Communicate and report on expectations and project progress
- Find solutions to arising problems and present ideas in collaboration with other team members
- Generate insights, ideas for Lenses that contribute to the major business goals
- Present plans to diverse stakeholders – clearly framing their current place in the process – and drive decision making when needed
- Partner closely with UXR to understand opportunities for innovation and improvement
- Help define new processes, workflows, and tools for the team
Our take
Snap is the social media giant that owns Snapchat, a social media mobile app released in 2011. Created to serve as a more emotive communication form than texting, the app has gained mass popularity, reaching upwards of 400 million daily users worldwide.
After rejecting a billion dollar acquisition from Meta (then Facebook) in 2013, Snap has found itself in competition with the social media giant, particularly with Instagram. Despite this, the company has marked a place for itself in the ever competitive social media space through developing features like a Discover tab, augmented reality lenses, in-app games, ads and monetisation options, as well as launching its paid service, Snapchat+.
Snap has so far not earned an annual profit since going public in 2017, but as Snapchat's user base has continually increased it has nearly closed the gap. Like other tech companies it suffered in late 2022 due to a surprise drop in advertising revenue, but has been rebuilding to its former trajectory since then. Given Snapchat's lasting popularity amongst young people, further success appears likely.
