Who you are
- 6+ years of experience needed and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field. M.S. preferred
- Excellent understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Ability and strong experience with coding and Development in Java
- Experience in Data Security, Application Security and SPLC
- Excellent understanding of Operating Systems security concepts and kernel components
- Strong Security experience in Windows/Linux internals and kernel
- Proven security knowledge of modern kernels (i.e., Linux, BSD, Solaris, AIX, or HP/UX) in kernel/C development, debugging, problem and performance analysis
- Knowledge of modern encryption and hashing algorithms and their usage, purposes, and weaknesses in varied scenarios
- Knowledge and experience in cloud computing and how services operate
- Become a motivated product and industry influence by maintaining deep technical and business. knowledge of various market segments and of best-of-breed security strategies
- Working across eBay with fellow Architects, Senior Staff, Principal Engineers, product management, and other partners to define the technical roadmap for the product(s) in response to customer requirements and market forces
- Experience with SMTP, TCP/IP, algorithms, multi-tasking, device drivers a plus
- Familiar with of secure architecture design and principles
- Familiar with data protection measures required in regulations like GDPR, PCI and CCPA
- Any security certification is a plus

- As a key security resource for eBay in the Mobile Security/Cryptography team, within the overall Security Architecture team
- Your work will have impact across the entire organization and company. If you enjoy analyzing, breaking down and coming-up with solutions that will harden the security posture of our environment; and you are skilled at discovering security issues that appear under new threat scenarios, this position will provide you with a challenging opportunity
- Design and develop scalable, secure software for cloud native and on-prem services/systems
- Participate in operational review of technical systems across the company
- Evaluate partner and third-party systems for adequate design and protections
- Be able to simply convey sophisticated data security concepts to partners, other specialists, and company leaders, while evangelizing accurate usage
