Who you are
- You have a penchant for logic and data, and an interest in AI solutions
- You seamlessly navigate ambiguity, enjoy managing multiple assignments simultaneously, and bring clarity and structure to complex tasks and data
- You are a strong communicator with proven experience driving decision making through guiding those invested in deeper analysis
- You have previous experience in FP&A or a similar role, hold a post-secondary degree in a relevant field, and/or hold a related professional designation (CPA, CFA, or equivalent)
- You work well in cross-functional teams, including with senior leaders, and are comfortable contributing to discussions with a value and financial perspective
- You have advanced spreadsheet skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
- You have experience with SAP, SAC, and/or other analytical applications
- You are a self-starter with proven experience developing processes and solving complex problems
- You love to constantly be learning, have a flexible mindset, and thrive in a fast-paced rapidly changing environment
- You demonstrate a strong interest in understanding AbCellera’s business and the Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical sector more broadly
What the job involves
- We are looking for a top-performing Finance Analyst to join our Vancouver team to support strategic decision making on a growing portfolio of preclinical and clinical assets
- You will contribute to maintaining our long range operating forecasts and projections through collaboration with leaders and project teams across the organization
- If you are detail orientated, curious, excited about clear analysis and data, and keen to work in the drug development sector, we’d love to hear from you
- Working closely with cost centers and project leads building forecasts and guiding your teammates through the process
- Generating analyses to improve accuracy of forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving strong decision making throughout the organization
- Partnering with leaders, enabling them to effectively manage long- and short-term operating plans and projections through monthly reporting, determining key drivers of spend, and providing data-driven insights
- Supporting the building of business cases for initiatives and investments as well as tracking progress against execution and realization of value
- Supporting our monthly management reporting and quarterly forecasting processes, identifying risks and opportunities, while proactively improving the process as needed
- Building and improving on data workflows, governance, business processes, and forecasting/valuation models for a variety of applications across the business
- Investigating and modeling impacts of new initiatives
- Providing general support to your Finance teammates as needed

The increasing application of artificial intelligence in pharmaceutical contexts combined with the declining capabilities of antibiotic treatment has opened up a huge opportunity for antibody-discovery firm, AbCellera.
The company provides an artificial-intelligence powered platform for identifying antibodies and developing treatments, and it scored a big win by helping Eli Lilly identify the antibody for its bamlanivimab COVID treatment.
The company is looking to successfully execute its 100 or so discovery programs for new drugs from which it can hope to earn millions in royalties.
The challenge for AbCellera, like many startups in the space, will be staying ahead of the curve in the application of emerging technologies while maintaining total compliance with regulations. So far signs are encouraging : it saw its revenues increase by about 25% over 2022 as it added 18 new partnerships in the period.

Véronique Lecault
(COO)Véronique received their PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of British Columbia, where they co-invented the high-throughput microfluidic platform that is now part of AbCellera’s core technology. They are a recipient of the L’Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science Mentorship Award.
