Role
Who you are
- We are looking for someone who is an excellent Excel modeler with a demonstrated interest in building, maintaining and improving forecasts
- The ideal candidate is a self-proclaimed perfectionist that loves the challenge of forecasting accurately and the ‘feedback’ you get from comparing actuals to forecast
- Bachelor’s Degree in economics, finance, math, engineering or business is a plus, but not essential
- 7+ years of FP&A experience in investment banking, equity research experience or retail
- Advanced Excel user. Open to using Google Sheets, even if you haven’t used them before
- Curious with a strong desire to understand business outcomes
- Familiar with data analytics software is a plus (for example: Looker, Amplitude, Mixpanel)
- ERP experience (for example: NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) is a plus
- PC user
What the job involves
- As Director of FP&A Manager, you will play an integral role in the budgeting and forecasting process at Parachute
- You’ll work extensively with our growing finance and accounting team and will also have the opportunity to work cross functionally as part of the budgeting and forecasting process
- Reports to: CFO
- Work closely with the CFO to build, maintain, and refine our cash and operating forecasts
- Build bottoms-up forecasts to more accurately project the impact of various business initiatives; incorporate them into our consolidated budget and forecasts
- Improve upon our monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and review process
- Support long-range strategic planning and identify areas of opportunity to improve financial KPIs
- Work on revenue, COGS and operating expense budgeting and forecasting approach and process
- Ad hoc financial modeling and analysis

Parachute provides responsibly manufactured modern home and bedding products. The company found a mid-range niche in the home goods sector that previously only offered high-end or budget options and has proven popular with consumers looking for quality goods that are not mass-produced. Its capitalizing on a trend of emerging specialist direct-to-consumer brands that began with companies like Warby Parker and Harry's.
Initially based purely online, Parachute has since launched several physical retail shops to attract new customers and boost its image. Its product range has focused on natural fibers and items made with manufacturing processes that don't use chemicals. Explicitly tailored towards the modern consumer, its direct-to-consumer model has been driven primarily by strong social media campaigns with influencers.
Competitors such as Casper also offer modern home products, but Parachute has captured the luxury sheets market by becoming a lifestyle brand. The company also launched a hotels line and is selling to a range of boutique hotels keen to ensure that their customers aren't getting lower-quality bedding to what they have at home.
