Staff Backend Software Engineer, Bolt

• 8+ years backend experience in Go/Java/Kotlin/Rust (or similar)
• 2+ years in Staff+ roles at a fintech or crypto startup
• Deep knowledge of payments and wallet infrastructure (card networks, ISO 8583, PCI, tokenization)
• Experience designing ledger systems with consistency, reliability, reconciliation
• Hands-on experience building crypto or stablecoin rails, blockchain integration is a plus
• Experience enabling “agentic” shopping—building APIs for assisted/personalized purchase journeys
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, microservices

Desirable

• As a Staff Backend Engineer on our Consumer Engineering team, you’ll own scalable and resilient back-end components powering the Bolt Super App
• You’ll lead the development of wallet infrastructure (on‑ramps, off‑ramps, P2P transfers), manage stablecoins and crypto rails, and enable intelligent, proactive “agentic” shopping workflows
• Please note, this is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the option to convert to full-time after 3–6 months
• Design and implement backend services enabling:
• Universal wallet infrastructure: multi-currency wallets, KYC/AML compliance, secure ledgering, minting/burning stablecoins
• Crypto on‑ramps/off‑ramps, P2P transfers, blockchain-routed settlement
• Payment acquisition and routing (cards, crypto rails), reconciliation and settlement
• Build distributed systems with 99.999% uptime and low latency
• Collaborate with banks, PSPs, stablecoin issuers, blockchain node providers
• Lead architectural decisions spanning wallet, commerce, crypto, and agentic‑shopping services
• Integrate fraud, compliance, risk scoring (for both fiat and crypto)
• Partner with frontend, infra, and data teams to enable richer, more intelligent shopping flows
• Mentor backend engineers and help define best practices for wallet and crypto services
