Role
Who you are
- This role is well-suited for someone who can operate both strategically and tactically: building models, pressure-testing assumptions, identifying risks and opportunities, and translating financial data into clear recommendations for executive leadership
- 6-8 years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, consulting, corporate finance, or operating roles at a high-growth SaaS or cybersecurity company
- Strong financial modeling skills, including experience building detailed P&Ls, ARR models, bookings models, headcount plans, and long-range operating plans
- Experience supporting GTM organizations, including Sales, RevOps, Marketing, Customer Success, or Partnerships
- Strong understanding of SaaS metrics, including ARR, bookings, revenue, churn, retention, NRR, GRR, CAC, LTV/CAC, magic number, sales productivity, and pipeline conversion
- Ability to evaluate opportunities and risks across topline growth, margin, resource allocation, and operating efficiency
- Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to turn complex data into clear narratives and actionable recommendations
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and build scalable processes in a fast-moving environment
- A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mentality with the ability to move between strategic thinking and detailed execution
- Familiarity with cybersecurity, enterprise software, secure access, browser security, or infrastructure software is a plus
- Experience with SQL, BI tools, CRM systems, planning tools, or a willingness to learn is a plus
What the job involves
- The Strategic Finance team provides financial insights and guidance to support Menlo Security’s long-term growth strategy. We partner across the business to help allocate resources toward the highest-impact opportunities, with a focus on scaling efficiently, improving operating discipline, and supporting strategic decision-making across the company
- Within Strategic Finance, this role would focus on the financial performance of Menlo’s go-to-market organization, including sales, revenue operations, partnerships, customer success, and related GTM functions. The team partners closely with leaders across Sales, Product, Marketing, RevOps, Customer Success, and Operations
- Drive financial planning, forecasting, and performance management across revenue, ARR, bookings, gross margin, and operating expenses
- Provide decision-quality insights on GTM performance, sales productivity, customer retention, and unit economics
- Build scalable financial processes, reporting, and operating cadence to support Menlo’s next phase of growth
- Help leadership evaluate tradeoffs across headcount, territory design, channel strategy, product investment, and growth initiatives
- Menlo Security is hiring a Strategic Finance partner to help support strategic decision-making across the GTM organization
- This person will play a key role in connecting financial planning with business strategy, helping the company scale its enterprise sales motion, improve forecast visibility, and invest behind the highest-return growth opportunities
- You will work closely with Sales Leadership, Revenue Operations, Customer Success, Product, Marketing, and the broader Finance team to align Menlo’s GTM strategy with financial outcomes that support durable, efficient growth
- Serve as a strategic finance partner to Menlo Security’s GTM organization
- Lead financial planning across revenue, ARR, bookings, gross margin, and operating expenses for annual planning, rolling forecasts, and long-range planning
- Partner with Sales and RevOps on quota planning, capacity planning, territory design, pipeline coverage, sales productivity, and attainment analysis
- Establish and manage key metrics to measure topline performance, sales efficiency, customer retention, expansion, churn, gross revenue retention, net revenue retention, and unit economics
- Build and improve forecasting methodologies across bookings, ARR, revenue, renewals, churn, upsell, and pipeline conversion
- Analyze business trends and distill actionable insights to support day-to-day execution and longer-term strategic planning
- Build FP&A rigor around management reporting, variance analysis, performance narratives, and executive-level decision support
- Support strategic initiatives such as pricing, packaging, deal structuring, channel strategy, product launches, and business cases for growth investments
- Own financial management of GTM budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and proactive response to variances
- Partner cross-functionally to evaluate investment tradeoffs across sales capacity, marketing programs, customer success coverage, product initiatives, and international expansion
- Deliver high-quality executive and Board-facing presentations that communicate performance, risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations
- Stay current on cybersecurity, browser security, enterprise software, and SaaS market dynamics to help inform Menlo’s growth strategy
Our take
Menlo Security takes a “zero trust” approach to computer threats by isolating all of a business’s web browsing and putting it on a remote server. Instead of depending upon software to scan and search for threats, it prevents attacks from ever reaching the system. Browsing activity no longer takes place on the end user’s device; instead, it all happens on a remote cloud service, which is operated by the company. This service is the largest secure web gateway in the world.
Menlo Security has focused on protecting businesses from web and email attacks, and its model means that it can be integrated with most popular browsers. A particularly appealing aspect of its service is that it doesn’t require businesses to install new software or change their approach, drastically reducing friction for users and making onboarding a far simpler experience.
Currently used by 8 out of 10 of the world's largest banks and capable of completely stopping up to 90% of threats, Menlo Security is in a strong position. It is still developing its services, however, and most recently building out a range of AI-powered tools to detect and prevent phishing and ransomware attacks. Moves like this seem likely to help keep Menlo Security at the forefront of its sector.
