Who you are
- A minimum of 5+ years in a quota-carrying direct sales role, with a strong track record of attainment
- Excellent prospecting, qualifying, and negotiating skills; consultative sales approach with a customer-centric mindset
- Working knowledge of APIs and a desire to understand how Plaid works 'under hood'
- Professional yet relaxed communication style, with the ability to break-down complex concepts and explain them in simple terms to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels of an organization into a consultative selling process
What the job involves
- The Fintech team at Plaid combines deep product and industry knowledge and is focused on helping both upcoming and well-established Fintechs take their growth to the next level
- Our thesis is that every company in Fintech can benefit from leveraging a bespoke Plaid solution, focused on helping them achieve their unique goals and objectives
- In this role, you'll be the individual helping us achieve this vision
- Your focus will be on working with Plaid's existing Fintech customers, deeply understanding their business, and aligning our solutions to help them achieve both near and long-term goals
- You'll also be tasked with engaging Fintechs that don't currently work with Plaid, identifying opportunities to partner, and owning the end-to-end sales process
- Identify use cases and prospect into high-growth companies in the Fintech space
- Develop a book of high-potential engaged prospects and maintain a sufficient pipeline to support successful attainment against quota
- Successfully lead a technical sales motion of guiding engineers, product, and growth team members for the entire life-cycle from prospecting to close
- Coordinate cross-functional resources and drive initiatives across Plaid to support a consultative sales motion
- Manage pipeline and accurately forecast deal value and win probability
- Own mastery of Plaid solutions and evangelize for industry success across fintech, crypto, and other industries
Our take
Plaid builds infrastructure that allows a consumer to interact with their bank account on the web through a number of third-party applications, like Venmo, Robinhood, Coinbase, Acorns and LendingClub.
Plaid has integrated with 12,000 financial institutions in the US, Canada, the UK and Europe. About a quarter of people living in North America with bank accounts have linked with Plaid through at least one of the hundreds of apps that leverage Plaid’s application program interfaces (APIs). The platform allows companies to create financial services applications without having to hire their own team of engineers to build out a tool that connects apps to its users’ bank accounts.
This is very valuable in a world where there are increasing number of fintechs, so the demand for Plaid's services are only going to grow. Despite its strong position, it has not been immune to the difficult global economic situtation and was forced to restructure at the end of 2022, laying off some of its workforce. However it is still experiencing growth and is well-positioned to weather the current economic uncertainty.
