  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate research vision and strategy at all organizational levels

What the job involves

  • We’re looking for a User Research Manager to foster the team empowering Webflow with decision-making superpowers
  • You’ll own the outcomes for research projects embedded within our Product Pillars, helping us better understand users, customers, and potential customers of Webflow and how to bring their needs and wants to existing and new product initiatives for Webflow
  • By working closely with leaders in Product, Design, and Insights, you will drive research projects that deliver concise, easy-to-understand, high-quality insights to help teams launch exciting new solutions for Webflow customers
  • You will lead a team of Researchers leveraging qualitative and quantitative methodologies to build a full and robust understanding of what people want and will work alongside Research Operations to ensure smooth and efficient execution
  • Reporting to the Head of Research
  • Own research objectives for your team in alignment with company strategy and lead the team’s work to successful outcomes. Proactively lead high-impact research initiatives to influence the product roadmap and strategy by uncovering user needs and answering critical business questions
  • Review research plans and analysis to ensure the delivery of impactful, easy-to-understand, and widely applicable insights and findings. Combine qualitative and quantitative methods to craft clear, actionable narratives that drive alignment and decision-making
  • Prioritize and evangelize data-driven decision making alongside our Insights team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Product, Design, Insights, Engineering, and GTM teams to align research strategy and ensure insights shape the end-to-end customer experience
  • Get into the weeds enough on research to ensure principled and confident decisions, and proactively ensure key milestones are communicated and met
  • Stay on top of trends and best practices in Research with special attention to content and web development and AI to keep our products innovative and competitive
  • Advocate for ethical, scalable, efficient, and impactful research practices across all aspects of our product development process
  • Work with Insights leadership to create and uphold cultural initiatives that keep our research team engaged, excited, and close knit
  • Cultivate talent on the team, growing both professional and technical skills for Researchers and assisting in hiring as we scale Research at Webflow
  • Influence and support the formation of technical product roadmaps and tactical solution designs that are highly usable and useful to a diverse and global audience
  • In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, at Webflow we will support you in identifying where your interests and development opportunities lie and we'll help you incorporate them into your role
  • Our Core Behaviors:
  • Obsess over customer experience. We deeply understand what we’re building and who we’re building for and serving. We define the leading edge of what’s possible in our industry and deliver the future for our customers
  • Move with heartfelt urgency. We have a healthy relationship with impatience, channeling it thoughtfully to show up better and faster for our customers and for each other. Time is the most limited thing we have, and we make the most of every moment
  • Say the hard thing with care. Our best work often comes from intelligent debate, critique, and even difficult conversations. We speak our minds and don’t sugarcoat things — and we do so with respect, maturity, and care
  • Make your mark. We seek out new and unique ways to create meaningful impact, and we champion the same from our colleagues. We work as a team to get the job done, and we go out of our way to celebrate and reward those going above and beyond for our customers and our teammates

Our take

No-code development systems allow users to create and publish the kind of output that was once only possible with the help of a team of developers. Webflow is one such platform that allows non-developers to create professional websites without knowing any code. It joins others such as Pantheon, Weebly, Squarespace, and Wix in a hotly-contested low-code development market. While competition is high, so too is demand, with low-code platforms accounting for more than 65% of application development activity in 2024.

The popularity of platforms such as Webflow is perhaps not surprising, as low-code development is usually cheaper for companies to implement and reduces time to market. Webflow has been used by over 3.5 million designers and teams to create sites for companies including enterprise brands such as Dell, Rakuten, UpWork, and Petal. It raised a large amount of funding in a Series C round in 2022. This is being used to further develop its platform, with a longer-term goal of pivoting to providing a no-code tool not only for websites, but software development as well.
