Who you are

You understand how to design and develop modular software features in a collaborative environment and agile team
We are looking for a motivated and driven self-starter, to further our technical stack from end to end
8+ years of experience in software development
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Experience with Kotlin, Java & C++
Deep experience with AOSP (Android Open Source Project), Android OS and Linux
Experience with embedded programming on Linux and / or RTOS

What the job involves

As a Staff System Software Engineer, you will help Motive design and develop on-edge IoT platforms
As an exceptional technical engineer and self-starter, you are able to design, execute, and test complex system features on a range of Linux, Android and real-time operating systems
This role will help build the next-generation Hardware platforms for Motive

Design and develop high-performance firmware and software for cutting-edge IoT platforms
Debug, optimize, and validate firmware on complex multi-core architectures
Develop automated and unit-level functional testing to validate designs
Present and provide feedback on architectural discussions for next-generation business logic
Engage with a cross-disciplinary team to design, develop and test features up the stack
Validate and maintain features using cloud-based analysis at scale

Trucking is a huge but fragmented industry that was largely ignored by Silicon Valley until companies such as Motive (formerly KeepTruckin) came along. The integrated fleet management platform acts as air traffic control for trucks, bringing drivers online and into the 21st century.

The company offers both hardware and software solutions to freight companies, allowing them to manage their fleet and keep their drivers safe. One of these solutions is an AI-powered dashcam that detects unsafe driving behavior in real time and instantly alerts the driver.

The platform, which is used by over 120,000 companies, from small businesses to Fortune 500 enterprises, received $150 million in VC in 2025. This is being invested in expanding the capabilities of its platform through AI, with a suite of AI-powered fleet tools launching in 2026.
