Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a technical field, but we understand great engineers come from a variety of different backgrounds and also consider relevant work experience
- 2+ years experience working with modern technologies on a full-stack team
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming best practices
- Strong sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done
- Affinity for solving problems and shipping impactful features, not polishing perfect code or architecture
- Experience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests
- Strong communication and technical leadership skills
- Desire to mentor and help others improve their skills
- Nice to have:
- Proven track record of building highly-scalable REST APIs
- Experience with workflow orchestration systems, such as Temporal.io
- Prior experience deploying applications using Docker and Kubernetes
- Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (gradle, git, automated testing and deployments)
- History of working with a cloud-based microservice architecture and distributed service communications
What the job involves
- We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our SoFi Credit Card team
- We need someone who can play a pivotal role in our Credit Card product architecture transformation, focusing on the evolution of our products and new features
- We are working hard to design a future looking framework, with the aim to scale our customer base, continue to delight existing customers, and disrupt the banking industry
- You’ll be working within a highly collaborative environment where planning and executing through a unified campaign lens is essential due to the complexity and interdependencies of these initiatives
- At SoFi, we pride ourselves on the collaboration between Product, Design and Engineering and so you will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, deploying and continual improvement and evolution - and you’ll be working with an all-star team of talented engineers
- Participate in shaping the technical architecture of our Credit Card products
- Participate in fixing bugs and raising our operational excellence bar
- Deliver highly available and scalable services in a production environment
- Mentor other engineers, support the technical culture, and help grow the team
- Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies

The global neobanking market is still growing at a staggering rate, valued at more than $50 billion and forecast to grow 50% annually for the foreseeable future. While companies like Revolut, Monzo, and Wise have been at the forefront of this digital revolution, Galileo has been a major background player.
In essence, the 2001-founded company provides some of the world’s leading fintechs (including the aforementioned Monzo and Wise), with the software and infrastructure they need to issue cards, process payments, and build innovative digital banking products.
The Fintech industry as a whole sat up and took notice when SoFi acquired Galileo for $1.2 billion in 2020, a year before going public. However, it's worth noting that since then, Galileo has continued operating as an independent subsidiary.
The hiring of financial industry veteran Derek White as CEO, and new partnerships with the likes of Fundbox and Global Rewards indicates that business is still booming for Galileo, while the company also looks to be exploring new, potentially very lucrative avenues in the crypto industry.
