Role
Who you are
- Native-level French (written and spoken) — this is a hard requirement
- Professional proficiency in English, our internal working language. German skills beneficial
- Experience in Customer Success, Account Management, or Customer-Facing Operations, ideally in a B2B SaaS environment
- Comfortable with virtual training delivery (webinars, workshops, screen-sharing sessions)
- Self-organized, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Bonus: familiarity with sustainability, carbon accounting, or agricultural supply chains or experience with data collection platforms or survey/assessment tools

What the job involves
- This is not a full- or part-time position. We're looking for a freelancer to support our French-speaking customers on a project basis. After an initial onboarding phase, you will take on assignments as needed, primarily running virtual trainings and supporting customers through key phases of our platform
- Expect low and irregular hours — this role suits someone who has other engagements and is looking for flexible, project-based work in the sustainability space
- Running virtual trainings with French-speaking customers, guiding them through the Root Platform (onboarding, data collection workflows, reporting features)
- Supporting customer projects during active data collection phases — answering questions, ensuring data quality, and driving completion
- Acting as a trusted point of contact for French-speaking users (primarily agricultural stakeholders), helping them navigate the platform and understand its value
- Flagging risks and opportunities to the internal Customer Success team, including churn signals, product feedback, and user engagement patterns
Our take
Food chains are responsible for anywhere between 20% and 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and it’s something businesses can’t sweep under the rug any longer. Tightening regulations require that businesses disclose their climate performance, and stakeholders and customers are paying close attention. Bad climate practices are increasingly bad for business, and Root Global is looking to help companies keep their performance up.
The Root software platform is designed to help food and beverage companies shoot for a zero-carbon future, by offering what Root hopes will become an industry-wide carbon operating system. Essentially, a database providing full life-cycle carbon emission data so businesses can make climate practise decisions based on accurate, comprehensive data - instead of the current system of upstream and downstream estimates.
This could prove a highly valuable proposition. Increasingly large numbers of companies are setting science-based climate targets, but research suggests the majority of these are distant, imprecise, or lack actionable road maps to get there. So, solid carbon accounting software is in urgent demand, and if Root, off the back of its 2024 seed funding, can build out the client base necessary for industry-wide coverage, it stands to make a substantial impact.
