Who you are
- Proven leader with 5+ years experience in growth roles at high-growth, product-led companies (ideally B2C subscription)
- Strong track record of delivering measurable impact. Scaling revenue, improving retention, or accelerating engagement
- Deeply analytical with strong SQL skills and the ability to structure ambiguous problems
- Experienced manager who has grown and coached high-performing teams
- Excellent communicator who can influence senior stakeholders and align cross-functional teams
- Obsessed with outcomes over outputs, with a proactive and entrepreneurial approach
- Comfortable switching between strategic thinking and hands-on execution
- Passion for user engagement, product-led growth, and unlocking long-term customer value
What the job involves
- We’re looking for an exceptional Head of Growth to lead Cleo’s Growth Lead function and accelerate our next stage of growth
- You’ll sit at the intersection of product, data, marketing, and commercial strategy, driving impact across the business to hit our company-wide OKRs
- This role is about scaling the function that has been pivotal in taking Cleo to unicorn status
- You’ll help evolve the growth strategy, manage and grow a high-performing team of Growth Leads, and act as a senior partner across the business to unlock opportunities that drive engagement, retention, and revenue
- You’ll be hands-on enough to dig into data and strategy, but senior enough to influence at the exec level and shape how Cleo grows
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of Growth Leads embedded across the business, ensuring they deliver outsized impact on company OKRs
- Build a high-performance culture focused on rapid experimentation, problem-solving, and measurable outcomes
- Partner with the VP of Growth and exec team to design and implement growth strategies that cut across acquisition, monetisation, and retention
- Translate company OKRs into clear priorities for the Growth Lead function
- Ensure all squads have the right growth levers identified and resourced to progress their goals faster
- Align acquisition, onboarding, churn prevention, and resurrection strategies to maximise subscriber LTV and retention
- Use data and insights to identify opportunities, shape roadmaps, and inform resource allocation
- Oversee experimentation frameworks, ensuring tests are well designed, measured, and scaled where successful
- Act as a strategic partner to Product, Marketing, Commercial, and Data leaders
- Bring a structured, outcome-driven approach to prioritisation and alignment across the business

Cleo was one of the first companies to make great use of chatbots that sit within Facebook's messenger app. This chatbot-first approach and Gen Z user base have given it strong virality. It now has millions of registered users, 99% of which are based in the US, leading to a decision to take a year break from the UK market to focus on its US Gen Z customers. And after a successful year in the US its now eyeing up a return to the UK.
Its Series C funding will help the company to double down in the US, where it will make a significant increase in employee headcount, and enable Cleo to maintain and expand its service during an economic downturn.
Financial advice delivered via bots is a crowded space, so Cleo benefits from having a strong brand presence. It has gone for very bold, fun, Gen Z-focused messaging which helps it to stand out from competitors such as Emma, Plum, and Chip.
