Senior Accountant, Upstart

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of relevant experience in public accounting and/or corporate accounting roles
• Strong understanding of financial statements and U.S. GAAP
• Proficiency with Excel (e.g., vlookup, sumif, pivot tables, etc.)
• Detail-oriented, analytical mindset with the ability to think strategically and see the big picture
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset with a continuous improvement approach

• Support the preparation of accurate, timely journal entries and account activity
• Perform monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
• Analyze account activity to identify discrepancies and recommend solutions
• Assist with the development and management of accounting policies and procedures
• Support the external audit process by preparing PBCs, responding to inquiries, and resolving open items
• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to increase accuracy and efficiency
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and implement scalable accounting solutions
• Assist in the design, implementation, and testing of internal controls
• Participate in ad-hoc projects and strategic initiatives across the Finance organization
