What the job involves
- As Zoom undergoes a significant cultural and operational transformation across EMEA, we're building a highperformance, accountability-driven culture that requires dedicated expertise in employee relations
- The ER Specialist role is critical to managing the increased complexity of ER casework
- Ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and supporting our managers through performance management, investigations, and organizational change
- This is a specialized, risk-mitigating function that directly enables Zoom's go-forward strategy while maintaining our commitment to fairness, trust, and employee care
- You'll join the People Experience (PX) function, working closely with ER Business Partners, PX Business Partners, and Legal teams across EMEA. This role is essential to embedding our performance culture, driving compliance excellence, and ensuring workforce changes are executed with sensitivity and precision
- You'll be part of a team that values operational rigor, empathy, and continuous improvement. Particularly as we scale our operations and strengthen employee confidence in Zoom's commitment to fair employment practices
- Managing high-risk employee relations casework including investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
- Ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations across multiple EMEA countries
- Partnering with managers and PX Business Partners on performance management cases and underperformance issues
- Conducting objective investigations and documenting findings with procedural rigor
- Developing and rolling out HR policies that support our performance-driven culture
- Monitoring ER metrics and providing risk-mitigation insights through data analysis and reporting
- Coaching leaders on constructive feedback and consistent application of performance standards
- Supporting organizational change initiatives with sensitivity and compliance focus
Our take
Zoom reworked video conferencing when most people assumed it was a solved problem, with services from Cisco and Skype already ubiquitous in workplaces and homes. However, its videoconferencing infrastructure was simpler to use, faster and more flexible than any previous solution, and it swiftly took the world by storm.
Its success bred competition, however, and companies such as Microsoft and Google, along with numerous smaller communications firms, have begun making inroads on Zoom's formerly commanding lead. Additionally, as workplaces are mostly adopting a hybrid or flexible working strategy, some of its importance as a workplace tool is wearing off and it is recording a gradual decline in daily usage rates.
To counter these trends, Zoom is expanding its business offerings through product development and strategic acquisitions. Alongside many other large tech companies, it has battled through a difficult economic situation, but it nonetheless remains a profitable company and household name. Plus, its track record of innovation means it is still very much one to watch in the communications space.
