Who you are
- 1-4 years of experience in an HR coordination role, preferably within an HR department or professional services environment
- HR Passion - you demonstrated a passion for growing your career in HR
- Exceptional organizational skills and a keen eye for detail; you are someone who loves checklists, processes, and getting things right
- Strong proficiency with technology and the ability to learn new systems quickly. High level of comfort with Google Suite and modern productivity tools (Slack, Asana, Zoom, etc.) is required. Proven examples of leveraging AI to solve HR tasks. Experience with HRIS/payroll systems is a major plus, with particular preference for experience with Gusto
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally in writing and verbally
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to the changing needs of a fast-paced, client-focused environment with empathy and care
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues with the utmost integrity and discretion
- A proactive, collaborative, and service-oriented mindset
What the job involves
- As an HR Coordinator, you will be the operational backbone of our consulting team, ensuring the seamless execution of HR processes for our diverse small business clients
- You will be a critical player in managing administrative tasks, maintaining data integrity, and supporting our consultants in delivering exceptional service
- This role is perfect for a highly organized and tech-savvy professional who thrives on creating efficiency and has a passion for the details that drive successful HR functions
- Support HR Consultants by managing the administrative and logistical aspects of client projects, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and tracking action items
- Process and Maintain HR Data with a high degree of accuracy across various HR systems. This includes managing employee onboarding and offboarding, processing status changes, and ensuring all records are up-to-date for our clients
- Coordinate New Hire Onboarding by preparing and distributing new hire paperwork, scheduling orientation sessions, and ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for our clients' new employees
- Assist with HR Functions by gathering data for payroll processing, supporting benefits administration during open enrollment and for new hires, and tracking leave of absence requests
- Serve as a First Point of Contact for routine employee inquiries on behalf of clients, providing prompt and helpful answers or escalating issues to the appropriate consultant when necessary
- Help Ensure Compliance by maintaining I-9 records, tracking required training, and assisting with the preparation of routine HR compliance reports and filings

For many small businesses, vital administrative tasks such as payroll, taxes, and benefits are manual tasks that take time and energy which many SMB owners don’t have. The three co-founders of Gusto – all coming from small business backgrounds – collaborated on a Fintech company that would handle employee payments, benefits administration, and compliance support specifically for small businesses.
The company may have started slowly, as the founders focused on nailing each individual aspect of Gusto’s operations, but has now skyrocketed to unicorn status with more than 400,000 customers and a multi-billion dollar valuation. And in 2021, Gusto began acquiring other companies to strengthen its offering and its position in a competitive market, including two other fintech startups, Ardius and Symmetry.
Through its continued acquisitions and fundraising efforts, the company has carved out a strong position for itself in the space. Although Gusto has found itself impacted by the macroeconomic situation, through the significant effect it has had on its clientele, the company still appears positive for the future after raising funds in 2023 that has seen it reach key profitability benchmarks. It continues to expand its platform, most recently partnering with Parafin to launch a payroll line of credit for small businesses. With a growing suite of services and a clear focus on supporting small businesses through changing economic conditions, Gusto looks set to sustain its momentum and further strengthen its position in the HR and payroll technology market.
