- 5+ years of experience in QA engineering, test engineering, or related software engineering roles within SaaS, FinTech, or similar environments
- Strong proficiency with data analysis tools (SQL, Mixpanel, etc.) and log analysis and monitoring tools (Datadog, Splunk, etc.)
- Strong automation mindset - you're excited about reducing manual testing and building frameworks that shift testing to the left and that engineers can use independently
- Proven track record of driving effective QA processes improvements to achieve both pre-production and post-production excellence
- Experience owning and optimizing QA metrics and reporting to demonstrate QA function achievements (critical to converting contract to full hire)
- Advanced troubleshooting abilities and the capacity to identify and triage ambiguous technical issues in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to various audiences
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to deliver results in a contract-to-hire structure
What the job involves
- We're seeking a QA Engineer with 5+ years of experience to own our end-to-end testing processes and drive quality assurance for new software and analytical product features
- You'll reduce cycle time through test automation, shift testing left by partnering with engineers at code review and QA, and manage pre-launch testing for complex deployments. Success in this role means delivering measurable impact quickly
- This requires strong SQL skills, experience with monitoring tools like DataDog, and a bias toward shipping quick wins (while demonstrating vision for long-term strategies)
- This is a 6 month contract-to-hire role reporting to our Head of Technical Program Management. This is a remote friendly role, but those in the NYC metropolitan or SF Bay areas are preferred

- Develop, maintain, and execute automated and manual test plans, including functional, integration, and regression testing, balancing comprehensive coverage with speed and reliability
- Drive quality assurance process for new feature launches (for both software and analytical product) through both pre-launch and post-launch activities to minimize defects and drive customer outcomes
- Lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts with Customer Support, Consumer Operations and Engineering to resolve complex technical issues and architect solutions
- Own and optimize QA metrics and reporting frameworks to enhance developer experience and product outcomes
- Identify opportunities to proactively mitigate quality issues before they escalate
- WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH, YOU'LL:
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Nova Credit's products, business model, customer segments, technical architecture, and existing testing and QA systems
- Become proficient with our existing testing and QA systems, as well as advanced troubleshooting methodologies
- Identify and implement 1-2 quick win improvements to existing testing process demonstrating immediate measurable impact in quality and speed of delivery
- TO MOVE TO A FULL HIRE, YOU'LL:
- Demonstrated value of the QA function through measurable improvement in our key metrics: reduced PR cycle time and change failure rate by implementing best practices within Nova’s testing frameworks
- Identified and begun implementing adjustments to Nova’s quality assurance process for new feature launches, with a clear direction on which improvements will drive greater speed and success in the next 12 months
- Help shape engineering initiative prioritization within roadmaps by effectively advocating for platform-wide testing hardening efforts

Our take
For the 15 million new immigrants who arrive in the US each year, it’s crucial to have a working credit history. Without this, they’ll be unable to rent an apartment, apply for a credit card or in some cases even get a job. The issue is that their credit history won’t have travelled with them, so lenders in their new country won’t be able to verify their eligibility. Nova Credit's founders experienced this problem first-hand, as Esipov is a first-generation Russian immigrant.
Nova Credit imports financial histories to enable immigrants to set up lives in new countries, with their ‘Credit Passport’. This is a digital framework that connects an individual’s credit history information from one country to the country where they are currently residing.
Nova Credit is currently able to import credit history from over 20 countries. Since being accepted to Y Combinator in 2016, the company has raised considerable funding from major finance players such as HSBC. Nova Credit has grown its footprint significantly, covering more than 1 billion consumer credit profiles, and is using its funding to strengthen its platform's infrastructure, analytics and compliance.
