Role
Who you are
- 3+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or data engineering, ideally in SaaS or B2B environments
- Proficient in SQL and Python, with experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines (Airflow a plus) and working with large, messy datasets
- Strong grasp of data validation, transformation, and QA, able to turn ambiguous challenges into clear, repeatable workflows
- Comfortable collaborating with customers and cross-functional teams, translating complex findings into plain language
- Detail-oriented, outcome-driven, and motivated by the impact that clean, reliable data has on solving real problems
What the job involves
- At GovWell, your work won’t just live in notebooks and dashboards—it will directly shape how government agencies serve their communities. Every data pipeline you build and every migration you execute makes a meaningful difference: enabling faster permit approvals, cleaner datasets, and better service for residents across the country
- Government agencies are moving from decades-old legacy systems. Your job is to help make that leap seamless. By leading data migrations, you’ll empower governments to get operational on GovWell’s platform quickly—with accurate, trustworthy data that becomes the foundation for better decisions and modern services
- This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, and customer experience. You’ll collaborate directly with government partners, understand their unique data landscapes, and turn messy exports into clean, actionable records. The work is technical, yes—but deeply human in its outcomes
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to design and build a self-service data import agent that allows non-technical government staff to map, validate, and upload their own data, reducing friction and speeding up time-to-value
- Lead high-impact customer data migrations, ensuring smooth, accurate transitions from legacy systems into GovWell’s modern platform
- Build scalable data onboarding workflows, using tools like Airflow and SQL to automate transformation, validation, and loading of customer data
- Run discovery sessions with customers to understand their data models, map schemas, and uncover edge cases that impact migration success
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Deployment Strategists, Product, and Engineering—to solve complex data challenges and improve customer onboarding velocity
- Develop internal tools and templates to accelerate and standardize data migration processes as GovWell scales
- Contribute to post-migration analytics by ensuring clean, structured data sets are available for downstream reporting and decision-making
- Support the growth of the data function by mentoring future analysts and helping shape best practices across the team
