Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 3-5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, ideally within a corporate finance or consolidations environment
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong quality-control mindset — able to catch and resolve data or formatting issues before deliverables go out
- Working knowledge across all three core financial statements (P&L, Cash Flow, and Balance Sheet)
- Proficiency in Gsheets/Excel for financial modeling and data management
- Proficiency in Google Slides/PowerPoint for preparing presentations and reporting materials for leadership
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
- Comfortable managing multiple recurring deliverables on a fixed cadence while adapting to shifting priorities
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
Desirable
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Advanced financial modeling skills
- Experience working at a technology company or similarly fast-paced environment
- Experience with Anaplan or similar enterprise planning/budgeting tools
- Experience with Oracle FCCS/ERP or similar financial consolidation/systems tools
- Experience with Hex, Mode or similar data analytics/notebook tools
- Experience with ThoughtSpot or similar BI tools
- Experience with SQL or similar data querying languages in an FP&A context
What the job involves
- Lyft is seeking a Financial Analyst on our Corporate FP&A team, focused on consolidated P&L reporting, financial forecasting, and data quality across the team's core reporting processes
- The ideal candidate will bring natural curiosity, financial rigor, and an exceptional eye for detail to the team, driving accurate, timely financial analysis in support of strategic decision making at Lyft
- Own recurring data management processes that support team-wide reporting and forecasting, with a strong focus on data accuracy and integrity
- Own consolidated P&L reporting, ensuring timely and accurate updates
- Perform thorough quality checks on financial data and reporting outputs, catching and resolving issues before they reach stakeholders
- Support financial forecasting and reporting cycles, including scenario analysis to help inform business decisions
- Support reporting and variance analysis for specific areas of the business, partnering closely with business stakeholders
- Partner with finance systems teams to support data governance and process improvements
- Serve as a point person for ad hoc analysis and special projects
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve reporting and planning processes
Our take
Lyft has aimed for consistent growth, making sure to pitch itself as a more reliable and friendly ride-sharing option than its main competitor, Uber. Uber has a greater market share and operates globally, but Lyft hopes to compete by its focus on ride-sharing over Uber's more diversified business approach and as a more rider-friendly and greener alternative to Uber.
Operating only in the USA and Canada, Lyft is in a position of being less affected by global events than Uber but also more vulnerable to local conditions. As an example, while it doesn't face the regulatory hurdles around employment rights that Uber does, it is unable to balance out the cost of the unusually expensive US auto insurance across its operations.
In 2022, Lyft acquired PBSC Urban Solutions, a bike-share equipment and technology supplier, allowing Lyft to compete in new verticals and reaffirming its commitment to green transportation. It has also trialled and launched Lyft Assisted, where drivers help passengers from their door into the car to get to medical appointments. These developments chime well with Lyft's unique selling point as a friendlier and more environmentally aware ride-sharing app, whilst the acquisition of European competitor Freenow could add 6 million new riders to its platform in 2026.
