Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 7+ years of experience in backend development using programming languages like Python, C++, Golang, or similar
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and grow
- Familiarity with relational database systems and RESTful APIs
- Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, GCP)
Desirable
- Exposure to AI/ML concepts or experience working with LLMs
- Experience working in teams that handle sensitive or regulated data
- Familiarity with gRPC, graphQL or similar
- Exposure to DevOps concepts - CI/CD, deployment, terraform, build systems
What the job involves
- Build the next generation of voice agents
- Work with an interdisciplinary team
- Develop highly scalable infrastructure for LLM processing
- Develop and maintain scalable backend systems to support high-performance AI applications in healthcare
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and ML engineers, to design and build efficient data pipelines for large-scale healthcare datasets
- Build and manage APIs and microservices that enable smooth data retrieval, processing, and interaction with AI models
- Monitor and improve backend systems to optimize performance, reliability, and uptime
- Work closely with product managers to understand healthcare requirements and help transform them into technical solutions
- Engage in team discussions and knowledge sharing to promote a collaborative and innovative engineering culture
Our take
The healthcare system is under increasing pressure to improve performance and patient outcomes, while battling inefficient operations and an ongoing staff shortage. Hippocratic AI hopes to help the industry address these issues, by supplying LLM-powered healthcare agents.
Hippocratic's agents can be employed in a number of scenarios, for example follow-ups with discharged patients, health risk assessments, or pre-op chats. Rather than delivering one conversational agent, the company has specified models that deal with different conditions - just one part of its safety-focussed approach.
By taking measures such as getting real nurses to assess its AI, Hippocratic solidifies this commitment to safety. And it's seen significant investments which its using to further fund safety tests as well as develop its product. Most recently, it has partnered with EUCALIA to bring generative AI to Japan, putting the company on a good growth trajectory.
