Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of software engineering experience in SaaS, fintech or payments technologies companies
- Advanced level of expertise expected in JVM languages like Kotlin and Java
- You have a creative mindset
- You take responsibility for results and are ready to go the extra mile to help the team
- The ability to find seamlessly simple and pragmatic solutions to complex problems
- Architect systems and services with a commitment to high-quality code standards. We work mostly in JVM languages, focusing on Kotlin. While familiarity with JVM languages is a plus, our projects are tailored towards Kotlin development rather than Java. However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general engineering skills than your knowledge of a particular language or framework
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, and a history of working effectively with your cross-functional team and other stakeholders
- A desire to perform and grow as an engineer
Desirable
- Experience with financial or payment technologies
- Good understanding and practical experience in micro-services environments (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, etc.)
- Experience with designing and maintaining public APIs
- Experience implementing and designing event-sourced or event-streaming systems (e.g. Kafka, Pulsar)
- Enjoy building a new team or product and helping make a great team environment
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment
- Experience working with remote teams
What the job involves
- Backend Engineers build the core of finmid products, services, and APIs
- As a key member of our growing backend engineering team, you will:
- Join the team of highly motivated, pragmatic engineers
- Impact by solving challenges in the next-gen financial products
- Architect, design, and develop products from scratch
- Embrace innovational concepts and adopt cutting-edge technologies to achieve our goals
- Integrate third-party vendor solutions into backend systems
- Participate in pair- and mob-programming sessions with fellow engineers
- Share knowledge and conduct talks at internal meet-ups
- Collaborate with product designers, business operations, and founders to address challenges and strategically plan for the future
- Demonstrate DevOps mindset and ownership over CI/CD infrastructure
- Mentor junior engineers and help hire new talent to build a strong team

Founded in 2021, Finmid is a financial services infrastructure provider, built to support other businesses with their financial products and services all from one platform. The company focuses on simplicity for its customers building a variety of products that amount to one integration for each company.
Both founders Max Schertel and Alexander Talkanitsa were previously involved in N26 from the beginnings of its journey. They developed deep roots in Fintech and are able to now provide Finmid and its employees with an extensive knowledge of the financial sector and how it can be improved.
Finmid has been keeping quiet about its offering up until a recent acknowledgement that the company was featured in Accel's Fintech 100 EMEA - the firm’s list of hot fintech companies set to become the next generation of category leaders. So maybe we’re about to see a lot more from Finmid as it brings forth what it has been hiding, especially once capital the company once recent investments are utilised.
