Platform Engineer, Bloom & Wild

• Have demonstrable knowledge of AWS public cloud. Our technology stack includes key services such as ECS Fargate for container orchestration, S3 for storage, RDS, ElastiCache, DynamoDB for data stores. We also use serverless related technologies such as AWS Lambda, and asynchronous execution patterns such as EventBridge, SNS and SQS
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a platform engineering capacity is required
• Have a good understanding of web services and APIs, and how network traffic gets routed from and to the internet into different services in AWS (e.g. load balancing, API Gateway technologies)
• Have experience with CI/CD pipelines, and understand best practices around deploying changes to both applications and infrastructure in a fast, reliable and safe manner (we currently use GitHub Actions and Terraform Cloud)
• Understand Infrastructure as Code principles, and more specifically have experience with managing infrastructure in Terraform
• Can effectively use observability tools (metrics, logs, traces) to understand the performance of applications and infrastructure, and diagnose where problems are, and where improvements can be made
• Are keen to learn and stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and value sharing your knowledge with your peers

Desirable

• The Engineering team is six, cross-functional, Product Engineering squads, who each own their own business and architectural domain and are supported by our Platform, Architecture, Data and IT teams
• Most of our team is based in the UK or The Netherlands and works in a flexible model, with choice in how often they travel to the office. Our squads meet all in person at least once per quarter in order to maintain connections, collaborate on larger projects and have fun together
• You’ll play an active role in delivering the roadmap for the Platform Team and be a key part of our Engineering team. This includes:
• Collaborating with the data, product and architecture teams to ensure we deliver a great experience to both our customers and the rest of the engineering team
• Ensuring our website and data ingestion infrastructure runs in an efficient, secure and cost effective manner, using IaaC technologies such as Terraform, and building internal tools to automate and improve our day to day processes
• Work together with the Engineering Team to enable them to build, deploy and observe their applications and necessary infrastructure in production
