Role
Who you are
- You have 5+ years of experience developing distributed systems using Golang, Rust, C#, or similar languages
- Experience utilizing modern infrastructure on Kubernetes
- Experience using Linux-based cloud infrastructure technologies like AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience with Observability and Monitoring Platforms (i.e. - Grafana, Honeycomb, Datadog)
- Excited to create and own modern game development services using Rust
- Excited to build a services platform that integrates directly with Unreal
What the job involves
- We're looking to build a world-class team of game-makers: folks bursting with creativity, who balance candor with compassion, and always, always, always hold themselves and their peers accountable to what's best for players
- As a Staff Game Services Engineer, you will guide the development of services that empower millions of players and their adventures together within the vast open world of Believer's flagship game. During the initial six months
- You will establish cross-team relationships and knowledge of our game’s needs while also delivering important foundational services such as Login, Authentication, Storage, and Player Data
- You will report directly into the Director of Backend Engineering
- Collaborate with the game team to identify and build important services that enable the team to build scalable, reliable, maintainable, persistent game systems
- Partner directly with fellow backend engineers to create CI/CD pipelines that empower us to test, iterate, and deploy our game service platform
- Define a comprehensive strategy for observability and monitoring throughout our services
- Initiate and champion efforts to open-source components of our services right from the outset
Our take
Founded in 2022, The Believer Company is a new game development studio looking to create the "next-generation open-world game". While the company may be new to the scene, its founding team certainly isn't, composed of former Riot Games veterans looking to take on a new adventure.
With new and exciting technology being brought forward to the gaming world over the last few years, Believer is putting an emphasis on the player. With a goal to develop technology and gameplay that is explicitly for the betterment of the player to create a game they will love and enjoy for many years to come.
Although the studio is yet to announce its first game, it has already secured a great deal of funding, which includes backing from industry giant, Riot Games. The company plans to build a world-class, remote-first team to deliver on its mission to take gameplay to the next level.
