- Strong experience using TypeScript to build robust, maintainable tooling
- Deep automation skills with proficiency in Playwright or Cypress
- Experience managing cloud environments (AWS/GCP) and a "DevOps mindset" when it comes to CI/CD

What the job involves
- As we continue to scale our ecosystem, we are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to build and scale automated testing frameworks for our Full Stack Engineering team
- This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll implement our QA strategy, develop automation and testing infrastructure, and help us expand our QA team
- Ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of a blockchain scaling solution is no trivial task. Bugs and vulnerabilities in smart contract execution, rollups, or state proofs can have massive implications
- As part of our growing QA team, you will establish rigorous, automated testing pipelines that validate the integrity of Arbitrum’s protocol, its developer tooling, and its ecosystem. Your work will directly contribute to the security and trustworthiness of one of the most widely adopted Layer 2 solutions in the Ethereum ecosystem
- Design and scale an end-to-end QA strategy for our Full Stack Engineering team
- Build and maintain sophisticated test automation frameworks (Playwright/Cypress) that validate security, performance, and correctness across the entire stack
- Seamlessly integrate automated testing into our CI/CD pipelines, ensuring that every release is battle-tested before it hits the mainnet
- Go beyond "click-and-verify" by implementing fuzzing and property-based testing to detect edge cases in smart contract interactions
- Own load and stress testing to ensure the Arbitrum stack thrives under transaction spikes
- Partner with Software Engineers, Smart Contract Devs, and DevOps to build a "Quality First" culture, turning manual processes into automated, reproducible workflows
- Collaborate with researchers and external auditors to automate vulnerability detection and regression testing
- Work closely with DevRel to ensure SDKs, APIs, and documentation are well-tested and reliable for the growing Arbitrum developer ecosystem
Our take
The Ethereum blockchain has seen a surge in activity over the past year or so - but, much to users' frustration, its transaction volume has failed to scale accordingly, leading to hefty gas fees and slow transaction times. Offchain Labs is one of a few players developing Layer 2 rollup solutions, and its Arbitrum rollup has gathered substantial momentum and support in a relatively short time.
Offchain Labs’ Arbitrum claims to offer all the benefits of a rollup - less costly, more efficient - without compromising on security. It is, at the time of writing, the only scaling solution for Ethereum that has working fraud proofs, and at the end of 2021 was dominating the layer 2 rollup market share.
This kind of high-profile and superior efficacy determines a successful blockchain technology. With Offchain Labs’ leadership pedigree and its string of acquisitions, it’s no surprise the company is leading rollup innovation efforts. This sector, however, moves at lightning speed—and the competing ZK rollups are by no means out of the picture just yet.
